    Saw stop

It certainly had the crowds watching at Ligna - they demo'd with a bratwurst of course & every 30mins or so a Festool guy with a microphone and large screen did the demo - Ligna is mainly dealer sell in focused for most manufacturers. My stand was opposite Festool and when there were no demo's...

Are the Elu flip saws any good?

If you are set on a flip saw then yes the Elu was pioneering & lightweight enough for transport if that's what you want, but the Elektra Beckum KGT500 was a far more substantial saw - cast ali table vs pressed steel & a pretty nifty mitre saw mechanism - look for green models made late 90's...

Has anyone used Elu Planer thicknessers?

I sold the EPT1161 in '97 when I was working for Elu - it was Ok, but I think £300 for that previous version is a bit on the high side for a machine of that age. Personally if I was on your budget & if you want an older machine I'd look at the Elektra Beckum HC260M - that in my view was far...

Does anyone here have a vinyl cutter/plotter?

That look really good mate - nice one for working out how to produce it in the end & I agree with other comments - the fact you have sussed it out and completed it yourself is superb. Your Gran would be very proud of you I'm sure. Cheers, Nick

West Country Woodworking is the best retailer I know in that part of the world - as you have already alluded to. Good guys who know their stuff - decent sized showroom now with most major bands on display if you just want a browse. Cheers

Help with my Evolution Rage 5s and a Magswitch feather board

Hi Bri - agreed with both comments above - if you have a mitre channel running parallel to the blade then use or get hold of the same dimension bar that fits your channel & attach a steel plate to the bar then make sure it will lock and not slide or lift up (Important it is fixed firmly if you...

Block planes, buy second hand or make one?

Hi - If you want to build one, then Charnwood have an end of line sale on Pinie kits like this in their showroom (Don't quote me but sure they are down to about £10 or so in showroom now too) - funny as I was talking about them today to a director as I quite fancied getting one & making my own...

    CNC company recommendations

If FabLab don't work, It could be worth dropping a line to Wayne at Essex Woodcrafts - I know he's the opposite side of the country to you, but he is the Legacy CNC agent for UK with a fully kitted workshop & he may be able to help out and quote? He is a good guy too & depending upon the size...

    Baileigh Industrial TS-1040E-50 Cabinet saw

Hi Dicky, My understanding is there should be a minimum distance from centre of spindle to the end of the table for EN 1870-19:2013 (Annex F) - I know we had to put an out-feed on to get a pass. There is a lot of hidden detail too in getting CE on what is classed as an Annex IV saw (And I...

    Baileigh Industrial TS-1040E-50 Cabinet saw

If you had no rear take off table supplied, then I can pretty much guarantee you your saw is non-CE. That's only one thing for starters looking at your pics. Let's see if you get any Dec of Conformity from them.. It's not a bad generic saw & your call if you are happy to risk any issues with...

    Nearly new Microclene faulty

Hi, Microclean are manufacturing again in the UK - Charnwood are the distributors & they maybe able to help if you e-mail them - if not, then I'm sure they can ask Microclean. Charnwood also stock all the replacement filters just for info too - not sure if the new ones fit yours, but worth an...

    Baileigh Industrial TS-1040E-50 Cabinet saw

If no CE or dec. of conformity is true, then I will say that's frustrating to say the least for all the brands out there who operate correctly and spend $$$ to ensure we supply legal machines into Europe. Anyway, just a heads up for those who like to know what's going on in the industry - It's...

Does anyone here have a vinyl cutter/plotter?

Hi, I've spoken to Sam, she is more than happy to help. She did have reservations about the size being quite small though if there's potentially a lot of detail, as she mentioned something about vinyl stretching. She's happy to give it a go though. Regarding file types - she said just a high...

Does anyone here have a vinyl cutter/plotter?

Hi, I'm working with Charnwood to launch Laguna. Another division of Charnwood's business is Wizard Frameshop mountcutters. They have several Wizard demo machines in their showroom, and I'd be happy to speak with Sam who runs that side of the business and ask if she can help you out. I'll ask...

Electra Beckum HC260 - how noisy?

It should be fairly quiet and have a moderate hummm before introducing timber to be cut - It's an induction motor - I sold loads of them - pretty hard to describe how noisy something should be by just typing - imagine a lawnmower going from 15.6 metres away maybe if that helps? ;)

Looking for first bandsaw in £1500-£2000 range

Hi Dave, just for info the Laguna 14/12 will be in stock & displayed in retailers mid/late June. No reviews here as it hasn't been launched in Europe yet. Plenty of reviews in USA though. Whether it meets your criteria is your call of course. Cheers, Nick

Where to get joinery grade wood in South Wales

Not too sure what or how much you are after but could be worth contacting Timberman in Carmarthan to check what they have - they cut on site too - I've been in there when furniture makers have been sourcing timber for projects. Cheers Nick

    Axminster AT25AFS air filter

Hi Andy, just FYI I'm 99% sure they are built by completely different companies, and also originate in different countries. Jet is Taiwan build, Ax is China build. Cheers, Nick
