    Sad news for Woodturning

There is a condolences page set up on the AWGB website for Mark https://www.awgb.co.uk/mark-baker/?pageNum=1 He touched so many peoples lives for the better and reading through the comments it's no surprise he has left a wonderful legacy of happy memories.

    Sad news for Woodturning

This is awful news, Mark was a genuinely lovely guy. We'd known each other for the last 25 years through shows and work and still to this day I have a lovely large Oak Burr bowl in my lounge that he made and posted out to me after a show many moons ago in return for a favour - I never expected...

    Jet Jml 1014

@ Rob - I'd be very surprised if that is in fact an induction motor at that price....Not saying it's not, but .... Maybe a genuine mistake on the website spec?? I can even see brush caps on the motor in the image...... It looks almost identical to other generic Chinese brush motor lathes...

    Lathe and tools wanted

Hi Rob, yes that is correct, just surprised it was so low £ - I launched/sold Jet as a wholesale brand with them from 2001 - 2017. Yup, you got a great deal. Fair play. Cheers

    Lathe and tools wanted

Well done Rob - surprises me it was that low as that must be pretty much cost price at import - Ha I'd have bought ten then resold them at that price. It is a good lathe too. Nice one.

    HEEELLPP!! Bandsaw tripping breaker

Hi Craig, sorry to hear you are having issues. Can you let me know after your electrician has visited and we will help out for sure if there is any problem with the machine. There has been a lot of info written in this thread, and I don't profess to be an expert electrician, but we do specify...

What has happened to Poolewood and Vicmarc

Hi Droogs, Yup - they are the same as far I knew - Jet 3520B was no longer sold from 2017 or so from memory. Jet 3520 was always a 'Powermatic' machine just it was never launched as Powermatic & was rebadged/painted white for 'Jet' brand in Europe. I disagree on 'nicer colour' too, but hey...

Apologies for yet another choice bandsaw thread

Hi Craig, 14BX back in stock in about 4 weeks. Not sure why he said Laguna could be 'a pita'?- we are UK based too as importers / hold spares etc & fully follow up on all customer service issues (they are rare) Just saying to set things straight All the best with whatever you choose to go for...

Is this an architectural feature worth saving?

I'd try and talk them into keeping it too - once things like that are gone, they are gone. It's a nice bit of original quirkiness as you say.

    Jet variable speed query

Hi Mac, I used to sell Jet and agree with the good people above it's v. likely the potentiometer - certainly first bit to check. I'm not 100% sure on forum rules but I know a free lance guy who has recently started up his own business in Leicester basically repairing smaller work shop machines...

    Laguna Fusion 3 buying advice

Hi Frank, no apology needed. We don't sell direct though, so it's ultimately down to the retailers what they could offer for a bulk buy. We have our next 40ft container arriving in just over an hours time - they are all pre-sold though and I don't know of any retailers who would have 3-4 spare...

    Laguna Fusion 3 buying advice

Hi Sam, for confirmation we do not deal with any warranty issues on Laguna machines unless it is purchased from one of our distributors. Ourselves and IGM are both Laguna importers but we are separate individual private companies. Your contract and any after-sales support would be with the...

    Tool shows/discounts

All my national / local dealer shows have been cancelled this year. 2021 earliest when we may resume - all depending. Everyone I speak to is flat out too with increased sales and have no appetite to disrupt with a show / extra cost / discounts etc.. Hope this helps, cheers, Nick

    Laguna Fusion 3 buying advice

Hi Droogs - OK I've just edited my post - I'm not an expert on EU law and don't want to post any mis-information that is incorrect.

Laguna tools, new to UK market

Hi Sam, all our info is on our website. What I would suggest is if possible get to your nearest stockist and see one in the flesh. Hope this helps, I'm limited to the response detail I can give as I don't want to push the forum rules as I'm aware I'm a supplier and obviously I'm going to be...

Laguna tools, new to UK market

Hi Phil, The main build is the same as USA, but additions for CE like braked motors / 50Hz / micro switches on doors/ rear feed tables / sub fences / crown guards etc - quite a few amendments (some of which the USA have taken on board since launching in Europe as they are logical improvements)...

Laguna tools, new to UK market

Hi Izzyix - Laguna have invested 10's of $1,000's in CE modifications / certification for Europe. We don't get any discount for promo from Laguna - FOB factory pricing is fixed and a lot higher than USA due to CE - It's each Countries call if they want to do promo's. $ vs £ is also not the best...
