Cartlodge - SE for foundation design in Essex?

No one is going to give you a foundation design free, they will have to cover for their Professional Indemnity insurance at the very least, BC also will not take on the responsibility for the design. A Structural Engineer will submit plans and calculations to BC for comment, the only comment...

Curing a damp shed - is it possible?

Just as an afterthought, answering old post got me banned from the "UK's Friendliest Electricians Forum" an oxymoron if ever there was one.

Garden room/glorified shed - general question about foundations

In short Yes, you will not stop water ingress if you build the room into the ground, just have a look on here of how many people come back again and again with water ingress problems. This is how I solved a similar problem, no stream though, building two storey and never moved or leaked in about...

Curing a damp shed - is it possible?

I was going to add to this thread with the benefit of my extensive experience of so called rising damp and lowering water tables, but then realised the post is over two years old, the building has probably floated away by now. 🥳

Fixing damp proof course which is leaking over the TOP

Flawed thinking, water against the wall at any level will try to penetrate the substrata and eventually build up to show itself on the other side of the wall, you probably have a combination of things causing this problem, but saturation of the cracked and holed blockwork is a major factor and...

Fixing damp proof course which is leaking over the TOP

It is a mistake to not have guttering on any roof that drains onto a wall, brick/blocks are not waterproof except for very dense engineering brick, but as an aside to your damp house problem, there is not such thing as rising damp, it's usually a different water source that is causing the...

best pound for pound all round router?

If you are going to be joining worktops with a Masons Mitre then you need a 1/2" router the heavier the better, stops it tipping, its then good to go into a Router Table, I have two Hitachi M12V or such, but my go too is the Draper Expert 1/2" router, much lighter and has a clear base with three...

    Treating Hardwood Fire-door with BLO?

A flammable coating IMO is not a good idea, best use either a recommended paint or just a water based, vanish if you want to make it look good.

    Powered Respiratory Protection

I have the Trend Airshield and can't fault it, very comfy and as another poster, the airflow over the face is refreshing, I have the clip on ear defenders as well and they work well, but I am posting as a user of only that, so can't really compare to others.

Upgrade electricity supply to 3 phase

Most continental rural properties are three phase due to distance from the transformer, but in France they do not supply the Earth as a matter of course, this means most properties are TT, the convenience of single phase can not be appreciated until you try to use an electric double oven...
