    Bloody officialdom....

I am old enough to remember the aftermath of the war (75) Rationing etc also being hurried into a shop in Holloway Road to avoid the Black Shirts (Oswald Mosely) pushing everyone off the pavement, but what astounds me is the fact that man first took flight in 1903. No one had a laptop or...

    11mm dado over 5m. 40 times.

I don't think a timber size of 47 x 75 qualifies as a joist? I would suggest a long flat bed of some sort, hot glue the piece to it and then screw in a fence to run the flat edge of the router along it.

    11mm dado over 5m. 40 times.

From purely a time factor view I would buy a cheap router table: Lumberjack RT1500 1500W Bench Top Router Table with Integrated Router 5060429093170 | eBay

Two 25L unknown 'coolant' barrels, care to guess the contents?

May sound a funny question, but what does it smell like, Is it oily or gritty, runny or thick?

    Joke Thread 4 (closed).

That's the funniest joke that has been on here for months, I have always said when someone asks what a Structural Engineer dose "Architects draw pretty pictures, Structural Engineers bring them back to reality and make the building stand up"

Sliding table on the Bandsaw and hot glue the piece to the sliding table would enable that cut to have been made somewhat safely used to do this when cutting the first face off a log.

    Watching accident videos

Your post makes you over 140 years old.😇 The video although informative is typically American takes 14mins to say what could have been explained in two, the unnecessary padding to the video and not getting to the point, is what makes most people think H&S is not worth the time to watch, you...

Cartlodge - SE for foundation design in Essex?

Does not have to be type 1, hardcore would do if it's well consolidated and sand blinded to prevent holes in the DPM, depth is subjective to ground conditions, but yes 150mm should be more than enough.

    UKWorkshop Server Upgrade Donation

I was banned from "The UK's friendliest Electricians Forum" because I answered old threads, according to the Moderator he warned me ten times, I asked where in the Forum rules this was and I was banned, not very friendly.

How to test drive a chainsaw

Both of my chainsaws are fitted with Oregon Stay Sharp blades. Oh the joy of just fitting the grind stone and ten seconds later the blade is sharp again, for the DIY merchant that I am its the best.

    A London Thread?

For construction timber my go-to is Wicks, a bit more expensive, but no delivery charges if over £100.00, Unlike Travis Perkins and Jewson's who charge for any quantity. I also worked in Tottenham Court Road in the mid 60's, well Percy Street just off the TCR, the amount of Hi Fi shops was...

Cartlodge - SE for foundation design in Essex?

That is a very heavy raft foundation for a cart lodge, 100mm slab on hardcore with top anti crack steel with a 300mm drop edge will do, unless the ground is particularly poor, built on land fill perhaps. We do seem to be going around in circles though and discussing the same things over and...

Cartlodge - SE for foundation design in Essex?

Do you get many earthquakes in Billericay. 🤣 I would suggest a simple raft foundation with some anti crack steel is all that is needed.

Cartlodge - SE for foundation design in Essex?

They would only have generic foundation plans that would not take into account the ground conditions, water table, wind loading for the area that a Structural Engineer would.

The Local Authority building control will have copies of the plans for public consultation, you could probably, visit with an appointment and see them.

Cartlodge - SE for foundation design in Essex?

As Pete said above and I did previously, do consider how you will get in and out of your vehicle once inside the garage, height, width and length come into play, In a tight garage I once had, I hung a pingpong ball from the roof that touched the windscreen when I had accessed enough to close the...

Cartlodge - SE for foundation design in Essex?
