    Wood stove idea

I did not open our flu/chimney, but had a uninsulated SS liner for our wood stove on the ground floor all the way to the roof and beyond up a 4M high chimney, I broke into the chimney in the loft and had a VMC box distribute hot air to all the upstairs rooms, worked well...

    What is wrong with tradesmen?

I could never understand that attitude, knowing when you are needed and the time period expected to carry out your work with the pre and following trades can only be a good thing, if you arrive and the works are not ready for you it is not unreasonable to apply for costs, known as dayworks in my...

    What is wrong with tradesmen?

    Upside down doors

I think that most text speakers can't remember the names of the people they meet and just call every one "Mate" I often have to remind people that I do not wish to mate with them no matter the incentive. 🤔 Have to say this is all a long way from upside down doors will stop prevaricating now...

    Upside down doors

I have a very old property that the ceiling height in my dinning room is 6ft 5" low enough that halogen lights were not good as they burnt the top of my follicle challenged head, thank goodness for modern LED lamps. 🙄🤣

    What is wrong with tradesmen?

Blame Edward Heath the rot started with the four day week. The attitude now days is the World owes me a living. If I go out to work I would have to talk to people, how can I do that and text at the same time? The Government told me to spend at least three minutes washing my hands, I can't do...

    What is wrong with tradesmen?

You are very lucky to have found the trades people you don't want to use before engaging them.

Problem with Silver line dovetail jig and Bosch advance trim router

I could not fault the Leigh adjustable guide bush, it made setting up much easier if you knew how to use it. Available through Axminster in the UK as are the RR of Dovetail jigs.

    Upside down doors

Also in picture framing the bottom margin is always larger as in days gone past when the only pictures where in galleries or mansions the paintings where hung from a high picture rail and you looked up at them the larger margin was lost in perspective, but a smaller margin would have looked much...

And don't forget when taking sound readings in your workshop ensure you also have the radio on or your blue tooth ear buds in. 🙄

    Big gap under internal doors

I know it's an older thread, but what has struck me is, if you have to go back to a job for client amendment's what is the problem, hating doing things twice is irrelevant if the client is paying, also the perception of others that you have made a mistake is laughable, you should be more...

    Workshop floor? Keep it concrete?

If the concrete floor has a DPM under it you do not need the vapour barrier.

    Which screws for cladding battens?

I used SS ring shanked nails for both the battens and the ceda cladding, still fine over twenty years latter.

Our Stuart Turner twin impeller pump failed within a month of it being installed, they replaced it free of charge, that was over twenty years ago and it is still working to this day.
