    Just a thought, putting an adaptor between the old and new valve may not work as the new valve head may not have a long enough travel to accommodate the increase in depth, also the change may be required because the valve is stuck down as normally happens and changing the valve head will not...

    If you tighten the lock shield valve minimal water comes out the control valve end when removing the TVR, a small silicone split tray will suffice to catch what water does come out, if the TVR's are that old they are probably not working and replacement is the best option...

    How much value to you put on your time, once set up the Leigh jig saves hour's and as above the width of the joints are infinitely variable making your project look more professional and you don't need a Bandsaw and P/T to make joints, more time saving, even if you don't buy the Leith jig get...
