    Invoice dispute

They were a sizable company and, notwithstanding my personal experience, I was surprised when I found that I couldn't buy their paint anymore. During the ownership of my two DIY shops I only stocked their product.

    Invoice dispute

Yes, Manders was an old established company making vastly better paint than most at the time and there is still a 'Mander Centre' in Wolverhampton. (I've just checked Google Maps) As far as I'm aware, the Centre was simply named for the company who were a big employer but didn't actually own or...

    Invoice dispute

I was once a manager for Mander's Paints and during my 'induction' the accounts manager made it very clear that I should be vigilant as far as trade customers who were 'slow' payers were concerned. Every week I would receive a list of account holders current status with those who had exceeded...

!!!! NO !!!! If it's a Unified thread, a Whitworth thread - even of the same nominal OD will allways be (at best) a poor fit or at worst a bad fit. 'Good enough' is never right!

What is the size of this bearing?

You of course mean mm not " - however its true size is 1.98" - the metric figure is a simple conversion. It just so happens to be accurate to 3dp. :D

new Axminster spiral cutter portable thicknesser

It might even be more accurate to call it a 'Helical' block rather than 'Spiral'. 'Spiral' would generally be interpreted as the groves are machined along the length at a high helix angle, 'Helical' would suggest a low helix angle without alluding to what is a true spiral block.

Large drill bits - why so long?

I suspect that most of the negative comments (certainly from me!) come from the fact that he takes particular care of protecting the outside of the billet so as to preserve its integrity but makes no reference to the fact that the concentricity it really quite secondary. Had he mentioned it, I...

As far as I am aware, there is no 'native' ISO standard for pipe threads, they have simply adopted the British and American Standards for both Parallel & Taper types. Must confuse the hell out of anyone who is not 'in the trade' - just like when Zaire adopted the metric system and insisted that...

When the comment left me it wasn't 'Sarky' :D How you interpret it is outwith my control though.:ROFLMAO: But you put the juxtaposition with 'Metric' - as a system, I was pointing out that there is not a 'US' System of measurement. Though I concede that prior to 1933 the US had a different...

    Training to use PU glue?

As I read that 'marketing' blurb, all I see is hyperbole. They are making the point that using their product means that you don't need to obtain certification - - - so why are they offering 'training' ?

What's with "metric and US" - although the left-ponians refuse to embrace the Metric system (more fool them!) the opposing system of 'Metric' is 'Imperial'. On this side of the pond - meaning the British Isles - but also in Germany, China, Japan (and I'm sure many more places), The Imperial...

Large drill bits - why so long?

I watched that video before reading your response @deema and was mentally making exactly the same comments as I did so! There is no way that either the hole or the thread would ever be concentric with the OD - which he didn't machine nor 'true up' by checking with a dial gauge. He holds the...

Sowing the First Seeds of 2023

I've been responding based upon my memory of the time - some years ago - when I ran a small chain (2!) of 'Garden & DIY shops' - I've now done a little research and see that memory cannot be totally relied upon :dunno: (who knew!) Yes pH has an influence but (as you will no doubt expect)...

Large drill bits - why so long?

It's not just the depth of the hole that needs to be covered. Often it is more about the 'reach' and other issues Over many years the 'Standard' has been developed - this is what is known as the 'Jobbers' drill standard, and, as you have discovered, the majority of drills produced are to this...

Sowing the First Seeds of 2023

When you first posted the question, I assumed that you knew the answer which is why I didn't respond immediately. It was only when you re-asked that I did - but still thought that you new. It now seems that you really didn't know and really would like an answer. It's impossible to be specific...

That sentence makes very little sense. - how would "...glue on the nut..." ever "..."manufacture" a bolt" ? If you could post a photo of the 'Table' & 'Castors' I'm sure many of the questions that are running through my head would be answered in atrice.

Sowing the First Seeds of 2023

As I said: The pH of the soil is different on each side of the plant - Lime wash will raise the pH making it less acidic. Anything above 7 (neutral) will cause the flowers to become more red.
