Post a photo of the last thing you made

My quote was also from Cookson's - of course! - who else 😀 - and yes, the price shown on their site is only a guide, will be adusted at the time of sale and subject to the PRECISE weight of the sheet suppied. My only 'concern' was that you may not have been aware of the limit for the need for...

I wasn't enquiring as to the cost - though I estimate 21g Sterling at today's price at ~£23.50 inc. VAT - - - my real concern was the issue which I raised earlier about Hallmarking.

What does the larger one weigh?

    Clarke 12c

Since this hasn't been addressed - - - 'Pitch' is the distance between the crests of the thread. It could also be between the roots or flanks at the effective or pitch diameter. It seems that you are not familiar with thread nomenclature so this drawing may well enlighten you.

    A Practical Maths Problem

Grudgingly agreed, but there would be little point of using Stirling Silver without making a point of saying so in any marketing - so I concider it a valid point and unless @niall Y is already a 'Sponsor' with his own Makers Mark he would need to secure a 'Sponsor' to make the product viable -...

    A Practical Maths Problem

Apropos of nothing really - except that if the ferule were to be made of Stirling Silver at 1mm thick, it would be illegal to offer it for sale without being Hallmarked if it were longer than 14.06mm. Incidentally, I would also do any prototype work in Copper rather than Brass exactly for the...

    Router Cutter Bearing Screws

D'OH!!! - at least you've found and error in my Thread measuring program! Although that .PHP file is correct, I normally work from the 'standard' - My program uses a transcription from the standard and I had simply made an error in the Unified listing  - - - now corrected

    Router Cutter Bearing Screws

Nº10 UNF would be 28tpi - there is no UNF dia. at 32tpi. UNEF starts at Nº12 x 32 ie. Nº0 to Nº10 are undefined - but there are also Unified constant pitch series.

    Router Cutter Bearing Screws

Only one of those is 'UNC', Nº5 x 40. Nº10 x 32 might fall into the UNEF series but is not in any table I am aware of, I would therefore class it as UNS (Unified Special). Nº3 UNC would be 48tpi, UNF, 56tpi. - - - 40 tpi would again be a 'special' but 30tpi (as initially quoted) is...

    Router Cutter Bearing Screws

The shape - or 'Type' - of drive socket on screws has no bearing upon the thread! You could quite easily have a BA thread Set Screw ( or Whitworth, Unified etc.) with a Hex (Allen), Square (Robertson), Torx, PoziDriv, Tri Wing - - - - or any of many more 'sockets', just as you could have...

    Naive wood-turning question.

I would make an arbor and clamp the work between two disks - whether they were Brass, Steel or Wood is irrelevant, much more important is your choice of tool - I'm sure I can see a square carbide tipped tool in the toolpost - change that to a simple HSS toolbit. I would use a high rake angle...

    Jacob's chuck drawbar question

Rather than corrupt this thread any further, I've created a new one in the 'Off Topic' section.

    Pastry - Marble Rolling Pins

Moved from "Jacob's chuck draw bar". I've never made 'Puff', 'Filo' or any 'Laminated' dough - I've limited my creations to Shortcrust, Pâte Sucrée and Hot Water Crust - the later only for Christmas Pork Pies of course. I have a solid marble worktop (not quite 'Carrara' but good) and a grey...

Finally DEWALT DW735 on 220v, but still not in UK?

    ?? the UK Standard is 13 amps . . .

    Crockpot

It might be quicker when fresh & warm but I get away with just leaving the workpiece in the cold (ambient) soulution for an hour rather than 2 minutes - I'm seldom in a rush (non-commercial).

Is it safe to use a collet adapter with upside-down routers?

The number of slots depends upon the size difference. The ½" to 12mm naturally only has the one 'through' slot, - a wall thickness of 0.35mm doesn't leave much space! - the 10mm has 1 through + 2 partial and so on. Ah. . . having a metal-turning lathe (and the knowledge to use it!) helps...

    Jacob's chuck drawbar question

    Not in my opinion :)

Is it safe to use a collet adapter with upside-down routers?

I make my own reducers and would never ever concider using the type shown in that eBay link. Reducers should grip 'parallel' throughout their length, those are more like straight collets rather than reducers with the back end solid which means that they will only clamp on the front edge. This...

New around here - tool collector / restorer - woodworker

I suspect that the whole point of it is to enable drilling close to a wall/ceiling. The 'swelling' where the two handles meet will have a pair of bevel gears inside it.

    Handrail brackets

It seems that you didn't (think it through) - That would mean that the bracket would be upside down !! @TheTiddles is correct, it has to be the full pitch.
