I don't call £320 for a camera inexpensive ! Re dongles. What's 4G ? I can but dream living where we do. Lucky to get 3G.

How to clean paint off 16thC internal timbers without damage?

Been mulling this over. Valhalla. Not wishing to rain on your parade but just wondering what the general state of repair is of the property? Has it been renovated ? Have you checked the sole plates ? Groundfloor....proper job, insulation etc or flagstones onto earth ? Have you been round...

How to clean paint off 16thC internal timbers without damage?

Could you not rent a place for a short while or move in with relations while you get it sandblasted ? Tent? Caravan?

No, they won't act as a deterrent nor do we expect them to. He is too thick and stupid to be honest. We just want to (a) have further recorded evidence and/or (b) 'encourage' him not to do it. This is only the tip of the iceberg and there are ongoing legal actions in play. You are right in...

    Recommendation for security cameras

We unfortunately have a neighbour and a more vindictive, lying, mean-spirited cretin you would be hard to find. Had the police out to him three times for harassment but might just as well have p****d in the wind the fat lot of good that they were. So if we go away on holiday we want to be...

How to clean paint off 16thC internal timbers without damage?

True but at least he will know what he's dealing with and can proceed accordingly. I don't think your suggestion of paint stripper is a sensible one because trying to get it out of all the nooks, crevices and rot that you refer to will be nigh on impossible. Or take months and months.

How to clean paint off 16thC internal timbers without damage?

Fashion of the day Not a chance. That stuff comes out under incredibly high pressure. We had our cellar blasted. We though the rest of the house would be fine. It wasn't. It will find its way through every nook and cranny, and will be coming out of them for months after.

Many thanks for that link. Not come across them before I know that geese are very good deterrents. It's the lack of remote access that's the problem !! I have a trail camera and TBH not impressed with the video quality especially at night. It's a Bushnell IIRC. That's another good link...

    Recommendation for security cameras

I'm afraid that Ring, Arlo, Nest etc all fail the local recording requirement. Our upload bandwidth is way, way too low.

Black and White property paint choice

Put it away, Phil. I've said my bit. Anyone else is entitled to their views re SLOP but I'll not respond.

How to clean paint off 16thC internal timbers without damage?

I also sandblasted the beams although soda blasting is the preferred route these days. If you do go down the sandblasting route then do it before you move in. When I did mine, since the property was gutted, it didn't really matter. Just as well as that sand gets in everywhere. Couple of...

Black and White property paint choice

SLOP (Slimy Linseed Oil Paint) is best left in the tin. I recall seeing this term mentioned a year or so back on the forum and thought...good description. You make a primer with SLOP, raw linseed oil and balsam turpentine. Apply thinly and it does get absorbed into the wood quite quickly...
