Replacement Boilers & Building regs….Sneaky NASTY rule change?

Irrelevant. Read the Reg that I posted above. Storm in a teacup.

Best tool to remove window frame return?

I'm afraid my Go-To for this type of job is also a multi-tool. Lots of new blades perhaps. Or do what I do ...paint over it. At the risk of teaching my mother's mother to suck ova, any requirements re building control? access to the room? fire egress...that sort of thing ? Welcome to the...

    Which Noise cancelling ear defenders?

Tell them to sew some tennis balls in the back of their nightgowns. Stops them sleeping on their backs. Stops them snoring. Tell them that they might have sleep apnea and could die in their sleep.

    Economy 7 and storage heaters?

My initial thought, Doug, was that smart meters didn't support Economy 7 but a quick Google suggests that they do. Whether the supplier your tenant chose supports that I have no way of knowing but certainly it is down to your tenant and their supplier to sort out. Also Economy 7 heaters are, I...

Well that reply certainly tempted fate. 1) Bought a case for my new phone. Really poor quality and malformed. Raised a return. Got a Royal Mail return label which in itself was a pain as it's a major round trip for us as we rarely go out. Lying toe-rag of a seller said "Damaged in the rain"...

    ...ed Off...

Keep their details. Then the next time you need a different trade, ask them for a recommendation. I find that guys like that develop links with other trades with similar-minded attitudes to work.

Replace the seals of my double glazings

TBH they are usually housed in grooves machined into the frame. You migh be able to extract them but if they were fitted before the window was finally assembled then you'll have difficulty. Cut them off and replace with those sticky foam seals ?

As in all things, there is no hard and fast rule. I've used eBay - both buying and selling - and haven't really had any problems either way. If it's a large and awkward or heavy item then I'll usually stick it on Gumtree (I don't like Facebook...they are heavily pro-Putin in the posts that...

Any good sources for learning sketchup to create woodworking projects?

As far as I am concerned, the 'Go-To' man for SketchUp and woodworking is Dave Richards and his DVD https://blog.sketchup.com/article/woodworking-wisdom-dave-richards

Will smart meters be used for the rolling blackouts?

Bear in mind that they can 'cut off' your supply without any need to go to court or ask you. I put the 'cut off' in parenthesis as it is a bit oblique in concept. If you fall behind with your electricity payments then they can switch you over to a pre-payment (which IIRC is also much more...

The scams are getting really sophisticated now.

If in doubt, I will always copy the link then open it up in something like BBEdit which shows the nuts and bolts. If it is obvious that it is a scam then I will click on the link and when asked for my username will enter...well, you can guess. Childish I know but for a split second, 'they'...

Then stick a smiley emoticon there. We're not mind-readers and you do have form.

Any electric oven experts in here?

That is absolute rubbish. When anyone comes to sell, the purchaser expects to see Part P compliance for any works and the certificates to prove it. You want to busk it. That's your call.

    ANPR insurance issue

Formal complaint to the Police ? Absolutely pointless. We made a complaint June 30. Slow, doesn't enter it. Last communication beginning of November ... Fortunately I have everything I need including the telephone call to the Sgt whereby she rationalises the visit, I am trying to source her...
