removing a bolt that holds a saw blade on (stripped head)

   Apologies, it seems you are correct. I will edit my previous posts. Teach me to check before offering an opinion. Not owning a track saw, I presumed it was a normal portable saw with a guide rail. So I checked a DeWalt DWS520 instruction manual & the teeth point backwards...

    Gouge Profiles

Presume you mean grind shape rather than flute shape. The latter is governed by the tool when you acquire it. The main reason for swept back grinds is that it's more efficient to remove wood quickly with a pull cut whereas a push cut is generally a finishing cut. My definition of a pull cut is...

A newby's tip for other newbies

I don't disagree with what you are saying, it shows how difficult it is to try to teach yourself. Anyone who has been turning for some time will adjust the tool rest automatically without thinking about it. This is why it's often recommended to purchase Keith Rowley's - Woodturning A Foundation...

    Home made turning tools

You might be better starting a new thread as it's a bit off topic for this one. Several members have made similar items. If I remember correctly some used door stoppers, not very successfully & others used clear plastic hose over a wooden core.

removing a bolt that holds a saw blade on (stripped head)

The bolt must tighten in the direction the blade/shaft spins otherwise it would work it's way loose (unless it has a means of being locked). Thus the norm is right hand thread. Think of a bicycle moving forwards. If you stand to the right, looking from the rear, the wheels move clockwise...

    What metal pipe?

Folding parking post £25 & £35 - https://www.toolstation.com/workwear-sa ... ntrol/c576 A neighbour's property has one of these & it's very effective. Not only does it stop other people parking, it also blocks your own vehicle in thus helping to prevent it being stolen.

    Rexon WL924A wood turning lathe.

The normal method is to relieve the belt tension by lifting the motor - obviously not with the motor running. Your local wood turning club often have members who are helpful to beginners. A better link to Woodturning - A Foundation Course by Keith Rowley -...

    Vernier caliper ?

Dial calipers. Easy to read & graduations every tenth of a mil should be accurate enough for anyone. You need the type where one rotation of the needle = 10mm (0.01). Other scales & imperial are also available. I have nylon ones for general use & stainless for lathe work. As long as you relieve...

    Roof Ventilation

When our loft was insulated some 10 years ago the chaps that did it also installed about 10 gadgets that hold the felt overlap open. They consist of two layers of thin rigid plastic, stapled at both ends & 2 springs between the layers, When inserted in the felt overlap the springs create an...
