    Record jaws have a raised tenon to fit a slot in the carrier whilst Axminster jaws are the opposite.

    Dunno what you do to improve the draw in a bungalow but in ours we have to use cardboard as the draw is so great that newspaper rips.

    If you can find a tap to match your headstock thread at least you could make your own wooden faceplates & jamb chucks. That would give you more scope than you presently have.
