Have you tried cleaning the Morse tapers? My routine, if sticky, white spirit, meths or isopropyl alcohol then possibly a light rub with a fine wet & dry abrasive, (180+ grit), another wash then dry. Do this on all the morse taper centres & in both the headstock & tailstock tapers.

    Thin Parting Tools

You could but fishtailing the tool or taking a cut & a half cut along side only takes a few seconds. In addition most new turners will probably not have the tools or the skill to thin the blade.

If you need a hammer or mallet on the knock out bar then something is wrong. Make sure the Morse tapers are clean & dry, then you should only need finger pressure on the k/o bar to drive out the centres.

In reply to your last 4 posts the first photo looks to be a sanding plate with an abrasive disc stuck on. Presumably it is threaded to fit the lathe headstock. The next 4 photos are an adjustable sanding table. The next photo is a mitre gauge which hopefully fits the slot in the sanding table...

    Crazy IT people

In addition, space is no longer at a premium. A programme that was 150kb could be so bloated that it's now 1GB.

Using premixed concrete for gate post.

Postcrete is quick & easy. Despite what the instructions say, mixing with a stick after watering is beneficial. Most fencing suppliers sell Post savers. I have one I can send you if you need it.

Using premixed concrete for gate post.

Postcrete will be fine. Mine's last over 25 years. If you use concrete you have to wait 24 hours for it to set. You can get post sleeves which you heat up but if not done properly allows water to collect & speed up rot. Better to paint with bituminous paint 4" to 6" above ground level. I always...

    Pen turning Mandrel

If your headstock is 1MT then get a 1MT mandrel. If at a later stage you get a lathe with a MT2 headstock then you can use the cheap MT2 to MT1 sleeve to adapt it. If you decide to get a MT2 mandrel then you will need a MT1 to MT2 adaptor to drive it. This adaptor projects from the headstock...
