Wolseley or BSS pipefitting merchants. or any local pipe merchant should stock all the pipe and fittings you need.

Help Sourcing M10 threaded steel rod 1.2M length

If nearer than the electrical merchants, any pipe fitting merchants would also have this and nuts & rail nuts etc to suit The better merchants would probably also keep this in stainless steel at the 10mm size.

    18v tool brand choice

Same here 👌 I would also look at the range of tools available for a brand. Eg Makita have a huge range of over 250 tools which all use their 18v batteries. You may not want that cordless chainsaw right now but hey wouldn't it be great if next year when you do it was available with out having...

Adding remote switch to 2 way circuit

One other option is Scolmore - https://www.scolmore.com/products/clicksmart+/ Kind of designed with retro fit in mind. In your case a remote switch would go wherever you want the third switch and a switch receiver would be wired into one of the existing switch back boxes. One caveat if adding...

    Central Heating system help

If were talking schematics here's one of mine :) Not suggesting this is the current best way of designing systems and I'm sure some plumbers out there will tell me there were better ways of achieving this !!

    Central Heating system help

The underfloor heating circuit is pump driven and it is taken that the pump will produce enough flow to comfortably move water around the entirety of the underfloor heating. The individual underfloor circuits are regulated via the small flow rate site glass type gauges on the upper rail...

    Central Heating system help

Deema, Do you have any heated towel rails in bathrooms? Looking at the pipe layout photo you appear to have an additional heating circuit. Is the underfloor heating manifold some distance from the cylinder cupboard? Is it possible that the flow through Pump D is actually opposite to your...

Gas safety check on rental property. How much?

hehe. If my accurate and informative posts have made it on to your rather exclusive list then I'm honoured. May i extend to you an automatic enrolment to my Belligerent list. It will be lonely, your the only member :) I note you have no retort for the logical, accurate and sound break down I...

Gas safety check on rental property. How much?

Wow. I'm happy that my neck is both wound in and not shiny. Not so sure about yours though which seemingly based on your own singular experiences has been well and truly pushed into a fantasy realm way above the parapet ! At no point have I said "they should be out of business" and at no point...

Gas safety check on rental property. How much?

Not sure this is completely correct. A Boiler service's includes a check on the pressure within the expansion vessel, located within the boiler. These often loose pressure over time and should be recharged by the engineer at the service visit if necessary.

Gas safety check on rental property. How much?

My Necks fine. My Assertions are fine. I will add another - The company will likely be doing this as a "loss leader" My response was based entirely on my 30 years experience within the industry and the last 10 years running a Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Company. I'm glad you...

Gas safety check on rental property. How much?

This is too cheap for both checks and suggests it is not being done correctly. It is simply not possible in todays world to run a vehicle provide tools and training and complete these two checks for the sum of £87.00 Even for cash (no income tax or vat) this would actually cost the engineer...

Help me choose a domestic hot water tank

Hmmm I'm not sure. Solar PV is a much simpler system to design and install, I'm really not sure why Thermal would be cheaper unless your going DIY. Generally speaking it is much simpler to site an inverter and run some cable within a property than accommodate a buffer vessel, pump set, heat...

Help me choose a domestic hot water tank

Agent_zed Why do you think heating water direct by solar is more efficient than using Solar PV? My understanding was that £ for £ invested, Solar PV is the most efficient and by some margin.

Measured paper pad for drawing plans

Not sure if you partake in the Peter Millard You Tube videos (Now at 10minuteworkshop.com) but he uses dot paper and I also find dot paper very handy for drawing and sketching stuff like projects.

    Heating thermostat in the hallway

May i ask why you chose Red Herrings as opposed to any other colour?

    Heating thermostat in the hallway

With no suggestion of money saving in mind, have you seen the Tado Control stat which would replace your nest is £99.99 in Screwfix? It would allow you full use of the Tado app and control system along with utilising the Tado app to create all your wireless TRV heads as separate rooms/zones

    Heating thermostat in the hallway

Surely heat loss is proportional to temperature gradient AND distance from the equator which dictates average yearly weather data AND the make up of the material heat is being lost through
