i’ve used standard HSS on aluminium, copper and silver will good results. Something else may be going on here if you’re dulling tools quickly. also I’m not sure carbide is best choice depending on cutter geometry as it may not be as ‘sharp‘ to begin with and therefore more prone to galling up...

I replaced the pressure switch with the one I linked in my last message and all sorted. (as an aside, I also checked the air fittings round the workshop as I have ’plumbed it round’ - I did find one elbow with a Q/R fitting leaking due to perished o-ring so changed that too). good luck simon

I think there is a method where flat metal plate is held between points and only when aligned does it sit square to bed. Worth a try.

What size / thread pitch do you need or have in mind - really effects the recommendation?!?!

Iirc needs to be quarter sawn for the lace figure to be clear (and then is sometimes referred to as lacewood)

The OP finish is ace so i take nothing away from that. One tip I was given was to thin hammerite 25% - it goes on much less gloopy amd given a nicer finish.

Hi My sip air compressor won’t pressurise. The motor runs and air hisses out of the pressure switch assembly. The over pressure relief valve is seated but I think there is another valve in the pressure switch box that is not seating to allow it to build any pressure. is this a new pressure...
