Or if you don't have one of them, try putting a small washer over the tip of the live centre - limit s how much the tip will wedge the two apart and the washer then just applies an axial push.

Sorry, n odirect answer but related question. Are there any issues with these type of tool rests coming lose during use? They look like a nice idea but I've always stayed clear for that reason (or can you only use one side of the rest for anything other than very light cuts?)

This does not sound right. When is it a lose fit, on initial threading or when the register engages with the machined counterbore in the chuck? If the latter, do you have means of accurately measuring the two diameters?

I use an oil filled rad but do have reasonable insulation / double glazed windows etc. For a quick burst of heat I also have one of the halogen heaters that BnQ et al seem to always have on special this time of year. I find them a bit more directional so they warm me rather than the general...
As above, when we get too many to deal with we can start rationing participation, but I would support the more the merrier for now as after all, a crowd attracts a crowd (hopefully!)

Quick bit of advice if possible please.
We have a shower with the white ceiling above slopping at 45deg as built into roof and prob less than 2 feet between top of shower and lowest part of roof with the result it does get steam condensing on it and over time a black mildew like...
