My most horrible food mistake so far...

We have so many different things to eat these days most look quite delicious and I’d have no problem trying some of the more exotic foods but why on earth would you eat these disgusting and not fit for human consumption foods . You could understand it if your country was ravaged by war and the...

    A potential scam ?

Not sure what they are but I did get 2 twin packs of drywall / sheet goods props made by vaunt ( a new company I think ) but a fraction of the cost of other makes .. I used them to make a temporary roof over some decking I was painting but the heavens opened up..

    Thanks for the welcome

Welcome John , 90 years young 👍👍 sorry can’t help with your question- I had to google leyris as I’d not heard of this company. There’s a few for sale but the blade looks like it’s fixed . I’m sure others will comment . I have the Stanley rachet screwdrivers but the bits are fitted at the ends in...

    Another Ban on the way?

just had my dinner , roast lamb etc - cooked to perfection, slightly pink and rested for 20 mins ( the excess liquid ) went into the homemade gravy .. gas or electric oven has little bearing on the quality of the cooking. It’s all down to the cook ( imho) . Top chef’s add a tray of water or...

    Door Frame leaning forward??

How about 50:50 in other words fit the new frame plumb but split the 30 mm 15mm each side . Half inside and half outside . At least then the difference will be less likely and easier to make good .

Anyone using a Numatic vacuum for dust extraction

The Nb 750 although it’s a bigger machine it’s a beast at 2,400 wats but I have to say it’s not that much louder than a standard machine . Mine has the additional ( yellow ) filter so if I recall I’m catching 99.9 % . It’s good for me as it’s portable so can travel rather than the fixed units...

    Decking sub frame help.

In addition to this spade which makes sense is a manual auger. I’ve got a 4” and a 6” and depending on the ground makes short work of post holes , you will need at least 3 weetabix though as winding it in will give you a good workout. I use similar as above but use a post hole digger to remove...

Anyone using a Numatic vacuum for dust extraction

This is my machine for my bigger tools I’m going to see how it works with my smaller tools in the spring ( outside) and if results are good I might do away with my rutlands hush power small vac ( to save space , both are used with cyclones.. I’m Avern Cleaning Supplies...

    Decking sub frame help.

Yes don’t add any water untill everything is level and true . Then just add a few cupfuls and nature will do the rest . A couple of bags should do 3/4 posts as it’s not like your erecting a 6’ fence ..

    Recommendation For a Supplier

You can get what’s called strip wood from most big diy stores - wickes bnq etc Some also sell strips of hardwood. EBay also have multiple sellers offering off cuts of all dimensions and species which are not that expensive. Worth a look .

    Flood proofing new shed

I hear you on permitted development but was thinking of a temporary measure rather than a permanent build during the winter months. And during any severe focast rain

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

These Bronze Age , cave men etc used what they had at the time of their existence they ate what ever animals roamed the land and caught fish from lakes and rivers . Fast forward to today and just because the available materials, animals and fish , the climate and the environment have changed if...

    Flood proofing new shed

I’d be building it and or raising it off the ground at least as high as the 3 ft you mention. Anything that doesn’t like to be submerged in water store high as possible . You could even devise a jack system whereby it could be raised up and then lowered when conditions improve. I guess it...
