    Need to escape/reset

There is nothing easy about this situation and although it has to be done 3 people turning up en mass to carry out an inspection is enough to put anyone,s back up . Bear in mind this is his home and he was on his own it’s I think understandably an added pressure that would cause @Stigmorgan to...

    Need to escape/reset

I think it’s qudos for what they have both achieved so far . Given how bad the situation was at the start of this thread . Im not saying the employer/- landlord shouldn’t expect the property to be kept to a decent standard but hoarding is not something anyone sets out to achieve it can fester...

Looks great - personally I don’t think it matters if you used a jig , trained a load of woodworm to cut the dovetails or had 3 wishes from a genie 🧞‍♂️ keep it up ..🤗🤗

How much weight can a screw thread hold?

If you’re concerned that they could pull out under your weight on these thinner beams then why not brace across 3 or 4 joists then use an eyed bolt . Use steel plates or heavy washers and secure a piece of 18 mm plywood. Bolt the eyed bolt through the ply using plates / washers etc it will be...

SawStop, stops on contact with skin is coming to Europe soon!

I just don’t see the issue- with s s - either your saw has it or it doesn’t. You either want a saw with s s or you don’t . You might have had years of professional training and years of experience and feel you don’t need such a device or equally that you can see the benefits of s s . My point is...

Mitre Saw Station - Site Work

I think that’s why it stood out , that’s pretty much how I like to work . I think it looks so professional it speaks volumes about your work ethic. My local timber yard ( long since closed) had a mitre saw on a long bench similar to yours . Behind it they had an upstand that ran along the entire...

    Putty advice for sash windows

Tbh I think it was a security issue as the local crooks would happily remove the putty gain entry , rob you blind and be kind enough to refit the glass before they left ,I was taught to slide the small pin hammer against the glass and gently tap the pin home as you said the pin is parallel to...

    Putty advice for sash windows

I was never told that and funnily enough every pane i changed still had the pins in place from the original glazers. It was a new build estate at the time . A lot of glass was 6mm Georgian wired but it was the same with the 4mm plain glass ..but your point about removing the pins makes sense.

    Putty advice for sash windows

I was taught years ago to apply a thin bead of softened putty to the to the inside of the frame then secure with small panel pins to hold glass while the putty went off , then the external side of the frame was sealed using the same softened putty was used to complete the install . It was a...

Electric Multi Function Tools the cheaper ones and Gas Central Heating Boilers

Absolutely the right thing is the gas safety check. Not only will the engineer check ( not service) the boiler but a visual check on any other appliances connected to the gas supply. The gas meter and the pipework will be visually checked and then a pressure ( tightness test ) will be carried...

    Need to escape/reset

A absolute nightmare for anyone to cope with let alone what you have already been through and certainly not one I’d want to be in ..I understand the cost implications also and although I don’t have dogs nobody should have to give up their pets. So I guess it comes back to that inspection and...

Electric Multi Function Tools the cheaper ones and Gas Central Heating Boilers

It might be trivial but please be aware of any electrical cables edit. Or pipes that may possibly be hidden at the edge of the worktop or behind the upstand. What I will say is you boiler is definitely inaccessible as every time you have a service or gas safety check or a breakdown you will...

    Need to escape/reset

I would strongly consider this if you feel you’re being pushed out as your ace card .also you have a month to find somewhere else to live whilst working your month of notice . This leaves you evenings and weekends where most letting agencies and your local council are closed . Do you have a...

    Need to escape/reset

Your employer certainly seems to be holding all the cards and to some extent holding your home as a hostage. They think and hope you won’t leave your post as you will be homeless so they can make it uncomfortable for you and v by calling these so called informal meetings. Some excellent advice...
