Hi and welcome- we’ll talk about throwing yourself into the deep end 😂 limited experience and a combination machine to get to grips with and then what sounds like quite a complicated project . Well good luck ( sorry I can’t help with your parts but as they are safety related part’s please be...

Plugging existing hinge holes in MDF

All the above ideas are solid advice but tbh the matches work for me in most cases , the exception is where multiple hinges have over time been fitted and the screw size’s get bigger and bigger. If that’s the case I’ll drill and use glue and dowels. The hinge drills really help to get the pilot...

Plugging existing hinge holes in MDF

I use cooks matches ( large ) soaked in pva and hammer in two or 3 depending on the hole size , let it dry overnight and then slice them off with sharp chisel the next day . Using a hinge drill helps get the hinge hole’s central- good shout on the mitre fast 🤔🤔

    Drill guides

Nice looking bit of kit but looks heavy hence not really portable. I could be wrong but unfortunately I don’t speak German.😳😳

I've never used a sliding mitre saw before, but I've just bought one. Looking for safety/operating advice.

If the timber releases tension as you cut it can close up on the blade trapping it . To this issue I only have 1 clamp which can be fitted to the left or right (dw 708 ) one thing I’ve not seen unless I’ve missed it is when cutting at 45 deg is to make sure your blade doesn’t foul the fence ...

    Spokeshave screw rusted solid

I’d also suggest plus gas -if possible create a dam around the screw and soak it overnight. As well as the impact driver suggestion a sss ( short sharp shock ) from a centre punch can help break the bond followed by more plus gas . As plus gas is flammable a small amount could be ignited to...

    Making internal doors

Hi there- I’m trying to understand your post regarding your concern with new doors as you say you would have to trim more than the allowed amount- so are the new doors a lot wider than the existing frames ? You then mention facing them with 12 mm plywood each side to make up the difference...

    Thankyou !!

Sorry to hear of your health issues and especially selling your tools etc , tbh I hope I never have to face this myself but I take my hat off to your for passing on your tools to others rather than they just slowly rust away . As above keep in touch and all the best with both your move and your...

What’s best way to separate sleepers ? I have four in walls and wants to re use but not sure what’s best way to dismantle not rotten at all

Welcome to ukw It already sounds like it would be cheaper and easier to just buy new sleeper’s and leave the wall alone but as above much more information and photos reqd - to understand your situation.

    Any Snap-on experts on here

Agreed it’s no different to woodworking tools or any other trade but take a basic Stanley smoothing plane that’s not that expensive but will need some work to get it ready for use, now compare it to a lie Nielsen which is out of my budget but this said they don’t offer a lifetime guarantee as...

    Any Snap-on experts on here

I think those of us that pay a premium price for tools and equipment etc do do because of the inherent quality and the lifetime guarantee. Like most things it’s a choice you make but when the cheap inferior quality tool breaks eg a spanner then it’s your knuckles that get smashed into parts of...
