Tree removal, which type of drill?

A stump grinder can be hired for around £200 all in for weekend . A tree surgeon will likely charge at least this amount. Subsequent stumps at the same location are then charged at a cheaper amount but a lot comes down to the diameter and the complexity of the root system. The machine is manual...

Tree removal, which type of drill?

I have a large heavy duty 6 ton chain puller .as long as I can anchor to a nearby ( 20 ) feet tree or similar I’ve always managed ti get the root out . That said it’s no easy job to get to and cut all the side roots .even a 1” root can hold the trunk ridgid if there’s a few of them. @pe2dave...

Tree removal, which type of drill?

Reciprocating saw with a long blade ..might be a bit of a push on an 18” trunk but if you can get at 2 or 3 sides but a picture paints a thousand words..

    Need to escape/reset

It’s good to hear this but a real shame your partner is the polar opposite which makes your situation even harder to deal with- I hope your employer is mindful of what you have both achieved thus far .there is no magic formula for this and often tiny baby steps is as much as you can accept..

    Need to escape/reset

You’re not wrong in your summary edit. @Yorkieguy of this situation but and imho it’s a massive but !! Are his employers aware of the reasons this situation has developed and how much it’s affected @Stigmorgan . So much so that his partner is not aware of this thread and I suspect that he has...

    8mm gas hose

I’ve always found that it’s just best to use what is appropriate for the job in hand . Ok in an emergency or to get yourself out of trouble on a temporary basis but as a permanent solution then why take any chances.

    8mm gas hose

Personally I’d use the appropriate hose recommended by your compressor maker / plasma cutter . Properties and potential hazards • Butane and Propane are Liquefied Petroleum Gases i.e. gases that are stored as a liquid in cylinders under pressure. At 15 degrees C the pressures are about 1.5 bar...

    Budget power tools.

I don’t know much about jet but they have been around for years . As long as it’s in good order for £40 I don’t think you can go wrong but it’s probably only suitable for small work ( a new blade or 2 will help ) as for the tablesaws tbh unless you know the history I too would avoid 2 hand , ghe...

    Paint stripper recommendations please!

It’s nitro moors for me , similar to above post I did use a cheaper brand non toxic but it was useless so I stick to the tried and tested nitro moors ..just don’t get it on your skin and definitely not near your eyes ..gloves , goggles and a mask are advised and if at all possible work outside...

Plugging existing hinge holes in MDF

Honest advice 🤔 get some help or you could end up in a lot of pain. It’s not too bad if they don’t need much trimming but I’ve never been that lucky. Several times up and down a flight of stairs is more than enough- last time I did exactly this I’d twisted my back but luckily the customer...

Plugging existing hinge holes in MDF

Agree it’s easier but also very time consuming.. when doing multiple doors My preference is to cut , plane all doors to fit as a batch , then mark out hinge positions on all accordingly to wether they are left or right handed . Hence my previous post on marking the inside / outside + top of door...

Plugging existing hinge holes in MDF

The entire house then - good luck - a good tip so you keep track of everything is to mark the doors on both side eg lounge door-lounge side // hallway side etc then having identified which side is the lock block ( if fitted ) mark this area with masking tape same for your hinge cut outs most...

Engineered wood flooring - concrete floor prep

No 4 caution as this could be a pipe duct - gas water or heating - or electricity. is it hollow when tapped ? . If so just remove ghe loose stuff and then use an acrylic floor levelling compound to make good ( prime if need be 1st ) As for the underlay remove as much as possible, I would not...
