a new era of low cost, accessible and efficient heating?

For a gas boiler, some of the inefficiency may depart via the flue. For a microwave oven, any inefficiency will end up warming your kitchen in one way or another.

a new era of low cost, accessible and efficient heating?

I apologise for that terse reply, but the simple facts are that, unless you're utilising heat from ground or air sources(hear pumps), energy in = energy out. Any inefficiency in an electrical device, be it a fan heater or a microwave, will manifest itself as heat. Even light or sound, from a...

a new era of low cost, accessible and efficient heating?

Yes, Jacob, I'm aware of that, but there is another problem with fan heaters - you instantly start to feel cold when the thermostat kicks in. There was a BBC "Sliced Bread" episode on the subject.

    Saw stop ( USA )

To be fair, I didn't fully understand what you meant by this. It's a very weird sentence.

I've driven cars without brake assist technology, if by that you mean no servo assist. I've also driven a P4 Rover when the brake servo had failed, wouldn't want to do that again.

a new era of low cost, accessible and efficient heating?

Unfortunately, when the price of energy rockets, the snake oil sellers have a field day. How many times have I seen those adverts for a tiny electric heater that heats the whole room in femtoseconds for pennies. Not that I'm saying Nextgen is definitely snake oil, but if it walks like a duck...

Indeed, I think electric scooters are a problem, as they are illegal on public roads, and thus do not seem to be regulated at all. I think it's more to do with cheap crappy Chinese(?) imports. I haven't seen reports of branded cordless power tool battery conflagrations, and they're pretty much...

    Saw stop ( USA )

I believe that has been found to be the case, people drive less carefully because of sear belts, air bags etc. With vehicles one also has to consider other road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists. They may benefit from improved braking, for example, but not from seat belts or air bags. I...

a new era of low cost, accessible and efficient heating?

I know why. I was merely being pedantic about "heat rises" hot air rises, heat doesn't. Warmer water doesn't always, either.

Heat rises? Why does ice form on the top of a pond?

a new era of low cost, accessible and efficient heating?

I'm sceptical. Firstly, electricity is around 3 to 4 times the price of gas per kWH, so with no "gain", such as is claimed for heat pumps, it'll be dear. Secondly, my personal experience of not heating unused spaces is not good. Mould can be a problem.

That's apparently not what the stats I've seen say, although I understand it's the social media opinion.

Everyone would complain that there was no infrastructure, where can you fill up when the tank runs dry? Don't they catch fire more than EVs? Don't they use environmentally damaging non-renewable fossil fuels? Don't they poison the air? is this an example of the lasting legacy of leaded petrol?

    This time next year, Rodney....

Surely inflation would make it worth less? Not been very good rates since 2002, but might have doubled, if rates hovered around 3 or 4%. Not that they have...

    New workshop soundproofing ideas

No need of insulation? Does not compute...Are you a lizard or a polar bear? Anyhow, Rockwool will provide both thermal and acoustic insulation, in case you wake up warm blooded or fall victim to alopecia one day.

    No. No. Just no.

Irwin quick grip clamp would be better. Hard to get a pipe wrench to stay tight enough.
