A little truth for a change.

"But temperature change itself isn't the most severe effect of changing climate. Changes to precipitation patterns and sea level are likely to have much greater human impact than the higher temperatures alone. For this reason, scientific research on climate change encompasses far more than...

A little truth for a change.

Pointed out by whom? The other "they"? I think it's fairly well established that Global temperatures are rising. No

A little truth for a change.

It's hard to see what the average man in the street can add to the discussion of climate change. They don't have access to their own research data, and a lot are simply parroting something they saw on Facebook or similar. Interesting how it used to be referred to as Global Warming. I guess that...

    Very little truth, I suspect.

    Repair chair leg

Sounds good to me, but do you have any tips for getting the holes drilled in the right orientation, when the break is on the diagonal?

How I charged an old removable mobile phone battery

We have a lightweight Bosch cordless hedge trimmer, and the Lithium battery was totally dead, and the charger wouldn't even recognise it. Have seen the cost of replacement batteries, I decided today to attempt a fix. The plastic casing came apart with relative ease, revealing three 18650 cells...

Are EV's good value? Apparently not!

Insurance companies seem to be very reluctant to take risks, which is strange, as that's their raison d'etre. My stepdaughter's car was bumped, in a car park, no visible damage to either bumper or bumpee, yet the child seat(that wasn't occupied at the time) was written off. It makes you wonder...

Are EV's good value? Apparently not!

They already are almost as expensive to run as an ICE car, since electricity prices soared, but maybe that's not why people buy them. We'll need to upgrade the grid if everyone fits ASHPs as well, by the way.

Are EV's good value? Apparently not!

So technically better quality, but beaten by longer playing time?

Are EV's good value? Apparently not!

I think you'll find that there are quite a few smaller, more basic EVs around. They're probably not as salient as the big SUVs, in fact the only way I discern some is from the green flash on the number plate. There are a lot of big flashy ones too, I'll grant you that. One of the locals here has...

Are EV's good value? Apparently not!

That could be because you've read the wrong things, but even if it were true, there will almost certainly be more and more wind and solar power as time goes by(I know, just shifting the pollution to the sun..). There is an immensely influential anti-EV lobby out there, just as there was pro...

Are EV's good value? Apparently not!

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/mar/19/every-new-school-being-built-in-england-is-in-unsafe-air-pollution-area-study-says I suppose it depends on whether you rank the resale value of your vehicle above the health of schoolchildren. I accept that there are a lot of older people with no...

    Tensegrity table

True, but in the real world, a three legged stool never wobbles, but you can't say the same of a four legged stool.

How far gone is too far gone for old wood lathes?

I have a spare Arundel J4 junior I'd consider offers for, if you're interested. It may be smaller than what you're after.

How I charged an old removable mobile phone battery

It can depend on the thickness of the cables. I've seen so-called jump leads that look like they'd struggle at 20 amps, let alone 200. I have an old set that were made with cable from a forklift charger, very thick but also flexible.
