    Headless TRVs

I need to replace a few TRV bodies. I'd like to go for Drayton or Pegler, but I'm having trouble finding straight ones. I can find no-name valves in eBay or Amazon, but I'd rather not risk leaks. Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Smart meter con ?

I'm sorry, but that pdf really is a case of too long, didn't read! But I do remember trying to explain that sitting the antenna in the roof of the school would be safe. But hey ho, nobody believes in science these days...

    Smart meter con ?

Lisle Street in Soho was the magical place full of Aladdin's caves of electronic components when I was a kid. My dad would sometimes take me there.

Yes. Samson's Electronics, although you might be thinking of Ralfe Electronics next door, who sold second hand test equipment. Much more interesting stuff.

    Smart meter con ?

Getting off topic a bit now, but I did some "research", the sort that begins with "Goo", a few years back when a mobile phone operator offered to install floodlights at the tennis club on whose committee I served at the time. Their benefit was to be installing a phone mast atop one of the light...

    GU10s to LED

Also bear in mind that some dimmers don't work well with LEDs, but, IIRC, the ones that are designed for LEDs are also compatible with incandescent lamps. Some "modern" dimmers allow you to set minimum and maximum brightness levels, which is great unless you have resident grandchildren who keep...

    Smart meter con ?

Forty years or so ago, I was part owner of a shop in Paddington that sold mainly transformers, along with some other electronic surplus. There was one particular surplus transformer that customers kept asking for, and one of them let slip that it could be used in some way to either ****** or...

I am aware of your stance, Phil, but thanks for reiterating it. The last joke thread was locked because it was too political.

Well there's a surprise! However, since the thing they're supposed to alleviate is totally non-scientific also, they probably work very well at a placebo level. Could do with being even more expensive though, to maximise the effect.

    Joke Thread 5

It's very funny, because the young lads do the decent thing, and help a person less fortunate, but one of their dads, being right wing, is likely to perform violent acts against his own offspring! Brilliant!
