How would you rate the UK's handling of this pandemic?

. But not wrong, just less nuanced? Glad that’s cleared up.

How would you rate the UK's handling of this pandemic?

The gist I’ve got from your posts is: Let the old shield/die/shrivel up. Everybody else get on with life, lockdowns waste of time.

    Bringing goods from the EU

Sadly many do, if a few recent posts are anything to go by. As Jake alludes too and I've posted before, a trade agreement (and there really is no such thing as a free trade agreement) ensures the flow of goods, customs & duties protect that flow of goods. But hey, it's sovrinty innit.

    Bringing goods from the EU

Indeed, some simply don't understand/don't want to believe how duties and taxes work or how HMRC is applying recently introduced regulations. US FTA? Will make no difference, taxes and duties again, with admin charges of course.

07678469180 a few mins ago: We are letting you know that there is a suspicious order on your Amazon account to the value of £1,492. Press 1 to cancel the order, press 2 to speak to a customer adviser..... Aye, right.

    Invasion of US Capitol building

I knew some who have been shot. Sometimes in the back of the head, sometimes in the knees. The former didn’t survive, dumped on waste ground or by the side of the road. Guns designed to kill are evil and totally unnecessary. I will never ever understand the mentality of those that are pro...

    Bringing goods from the EU

Currently you canny, unless for good/essential reason, cause of C-19. Police/Garda checkpoints most of the time. A green card to indicate insurance compliance has been needed since Jan 1st. Other than that no difference, CTA etc. Oh and lots of smuggling, both ways, on goods etc. Imagine the...

    Bringing goods from the EU

Although Mark is in Ireland, which as he describes is now suffering many ill effects of Brexit (fishing, customs red tape and tax/duties and so much else) Johnson did indeed threw NI under the bus. Gove rabbits on about NI getting the best of both worlds - in GB and EU CU etc- in reality it’s...

Safe way to use a dado stack

Exactly. There’ll be a lot less across the grain strength in the timber once it starts getting such a wide cut resulting in inconsistent fingers/gaps and possibly safety issues.

Safe way to use a dado stack

Firstly, be very, very careful, you know all the risks involved. Minimise those risks, respect the tool and keep your focus on the job. I’ve used dado stacks for a long time. I’ve a 4 wing set, 3 hp saw so please adjust things to suit your set, saw and learning curve. First thing is...

Safe way to use a dado stack

Ah, ok. You want a vertical end to the 10mm wide cut, where you stop the cut? How thick is the timber?

Safe way to use a dado stack

Hi Jim. Dado stacks not too popular around these parts, many use a router instead which makes sense in many cases. I assume you haven't used a dado stack too often? Would suggest not going in at full height*, way too much work for the blades, especially if you are using a 2 wing set. A little...

    Useless facts

Hmmmm, Kerry? : ) Anyway, looking the other way from Anglesey on a suitable day you can see the Dublin Hills/Wicklow Mountains. Didn't realise either but I suppose it's not something you actually look at/for. Will certainly have a look next time I'm in Holyhead or Dublin, or both.

    Useless facts

Funnily enough the shipyard workers at the time of the build regarded themselves as British, picture of king in the good room and all that.

Well hopefully once travel is opened up a bit you’ll get the chance to go to Ireland. Nice place.

    Bringing goods from the EU

FPA is 24% in Greece. Point I was making is that if they charge you then it's money thrown in the ditch and then it'll be a further 20% when it reaches your shores + admin etc. In many cases it's not a big deal, depends I suppose on the shipping value and your needs.
