    Cutting vinyl sheet flooring

A hooked blade in a multi tool might work well. Assuming of course you have access to such a tool.

    gotta say........

The type you refer is called a top handle but it is not a “single handed” saw. It has two handles which should be used as much as possible. It’s designed for close quarter use when climbing and not for any other use, certainly not felling for example. In a kickback situation you will have very...

    Makita Makblade

Similar to Kev, have a new one in the mitre saw. As good as a Freud, nice shiny cut surfaces but will it last as long as a Freud? Not sure.

    UK alternative to pipe clamps?

Pipe clamps are easy to get, especially the Pony Jorgensen brand which are good. Threaded pipe available too. EBay, Amazon etc. Sometimes advertised as “Pipe Sash Clamps”. Well worth getting some, much easier and better than traditional sash/bar clamps.

    Corded Or Cordless

Amazon Germany has become very popular in Ireland, much easier than Amazon UK and there’s a fulfilment centre in Baldonnell. For me drills, drivers, impacts, SDS and circ saws are cordless. See little point in buying corded tools other than large or stationary items.

    Hardpoint saws vs resharpenable

Bahco Barracuda, a tenner or so. Better handle, more comfy than the basic Bahco, thicker steel for the blade. For two quid more they do a Superior, nice black Teflon-ish coating and no rusting.

    Cleaning rust off thicknesser bed

Do use a little light machine oil if using some type of abrasive. The oil makes it easier but more importantly suspends any debris or iron particles lifted from the surface. As said, finish with white spirit and a protective coating.

Parkside/Lidl Cordless Pole Saw any opinions please

If no details on the bar you can measure the chain yourself 18 on the drive tooth usually means .404 pitch, .080 gauge but double check that. First length of chain- count the number of drive teeth that run on the bar slot. Next measure the distance between 3 rivets and divide x 2, this will give...

All this spy balloon nonsense is getting a bit overblown. More important issues such as inflation should get more air time.
