    suitability of ash for bench

Hi, I have ordered a benchcrafted set of hardware to make a Moxon vice and mini bench extension for my workbench, to try and alleviate my backpain.......I ordered the wood to make it out of to match my bench, which is beech, but they have sent me ash instead. I wondered what your thoughts were...

    Corian Infill Plane

Hey Pete, good idea, its pretty heavy and very hard...but you maybe should have used one of the solid, dark colours........those speckly ones really look horrible....nice work though! I use corian a lot for jig parts and loads of other useful stuff....I love it. Very handy to have some bits in...

    Dirty Britain

Well.........I have long held the view that most inhabitants of this green and pleasant isle of ours.....actually, the world really when you think about it....are simply a waste of oxygen....The levels of ignorance, stupidity, and general obnoxiousness never ceases to amaze me. This sort of...

I need to veneer both sides, is it best to do this at the same time, or could I do it next day for example without issues? It's going onto 18mm birch ply frontals. Thanks

Walnut Plane storage cabinet wall mounted

Ok, time for another update....... Been working on the cubby hole bases and the solution to the potential problem of the planes overbalancing on the ramps. Which possibly could happen on some of the smaller ones. I decided to look at the bases of the cubby holes, did some forum reading and cork...

Hi, and some of my work

+ 1 the curved bookcase. Nice work One criticism ( constructive of course..) - I don't like the blocks supporting the shelves in the wardrobe interiors....there are much better ( invisible ) ways to do this Cheers, Mark

    Low down on electrical spurs

You can indeed have one spur from any point on the ring. And yes about the fused spurs. They protect the smaller cable from carrying anything more than 13 amps. Rgds, Mark

    What kitchen?

Hi, like anything else, you get what you pay for generally........however, a lot of kitchens out there are very overpriced ( Moben spring to mind...) I spent 10 years specialising in installing kitchens and have fitted them all from the cheapest B&Q crap to Bulthaup and £70,000 bespoke...

    Veneer glue

Hi, can someone link to a supplier of suitable adhesive for veneering in a vacuum press? I got plenty of stuff in America, but cant find similar cold press glues for sale here so far. Thanks, Mark

    New project specific forum

Why don't you just make a simple website and use that instead...? Just a thought......When I got my new felder machine, I joined the FOG on yahoo, but the site is so clunky to use and generally annoying, I hardly ever go there.....forum software is freely available as well...

    Amazing rescue story

Did you guys see this? http://www.trend-uk.com/buried_alive/ The story of the rescue and how they got him out is particularly interesting. I did not realise the hazards were so large even being such a small way under the grain.......

The Plot to Bring Down Britains Planes

It's great that the security services are so good at foiling these attempts.....however, in a way, I wish they were not - because they have managed to so far stop any major events since 7?7, most people currently severely underestimate the level and nature of the threat against us from Muslim...

    Bad Backs

Oh yes, me too.......had problems for the last 15 years, although I am told, its all posture and muscle related, not a disc issue. I had an MRI at my insistence after several years of problems, but it found nothing. Mine has gone from periods of 3 or 4 days of severe pain and virtual...

    Unemployed to work for benefits.

So Jacob, lets see, how well do you think the next party that puts forward a 40% or 50% base tax level to pay for all of this, such as they have in free thinking forward looking model liberal left wing countries such as Denmark and Sweden etc, will get at the next election..........And precisely...
