    Christmas Jokes

All great! The last one....excellent, .......however, if only it was not so true. Kind of makes me sad really, how far down the road of this nonsense we have gone, and no chance of winding things back. Ho Hum.........

    sketchlist - any users here?

Well, my trial period came and went, without me getting a chance to actually dive in and have a proper go..way too busy here at work. So, I stumped up the £120 ( Got the company to pay...!) and have just started designing my first piece on it, a sister cabinet for hand tools, to go alongside the...

Elm Dining Table - WIP (sort of!)

You should be justifiably very proud of yourself, it's a lovely piece and some great techniques and problem solving demonstrated. For me, this one of the best parts of this hobby, coming up with ways around the inevitable challenges each new piece throws up. Well done, Cheers, Mark

Fire door regulations on victorian properties

Colin, a lot of what you are saying is simply not true. We refurbish at least 15 or 20 houses every year in central London. Our building inspector ( We use London Building control Ltd) Does not require intumescent strips and closures. He does require the door to be FD30 rated and the stops to be...

Today I shall mostly be humming an earworm...

Know how you feel John......I was devastated to lose one of my dogs last Christmas....and have lost 4 others over the 30 years I have owned them. It never gets easier, but you do learn to live with it.

    Mobile speed Camera Vans

seriously?????? which thread are you reading? He has insulted me twice in this one and the same in the Phiilipines thread......It does not bother me, but please don't pretend he does not do it....... I have put forward at least two logical, reasoned "what if" scenarios earlier in this thread...

    Mobile speed Camera Vans

To be honest, it's just another example of the nanny state thinking they can legislate their way to some kind of zero risk, zero death, zero fun existence. ( and all the while, make some money out of it...).........I know what I would I would rather live under.......... and for what it's worth...

    Mobile speed Camera Vans

OMG>>>>>    Seriously>????? Of course that's true, if velocity was zero, then no one would be killed by vehicles so the nearer you get to zero, the less fatalities.. lets make it even safer and ban cars altogether.........Christ, why did'nt we think of that one...

    Mobile speed Camera Vans

Speed kills.......OK, so let's introduce a blanket limit of 20MPH everywhere.......No one dies, simple...... Hang on, 20mph is speed, surely? so is 30mph....? What you meant to say was INAPPROPRIATE speed kills wasn't it? If you speeding INAPPROPRIATELY, then you are indeed, driving like a...

Fire door regulations on victorian properties

A problem if its indeed arequirement to retain the original eatures, however we refurbish many victorian houses and often have to upgrade doors. Magnet do some nice 4 & 6 panel doors that look very nice. Plus they have that nice heavy feel and shut solidly. Where we have had to keep the original...

Fire door regulations on victorian properties

Quickest and easiest to buy new FD30 doors, and fit bigger stops, than to muck around trying to upgrade the existing. Doors cost approx £50 from magnet etc.........You wont need intumescent strips or closures.

    What Tablet

I just got myself a Samsung galaxy 8 inch and it's really excellent. My wife and kids all have ipads, but I think this is much better, and half the price. Android is a great OS now as well. You can add extra memory as well very cheaply if you need to and teh connectivity to othe rPC's etc is...

    Mobile speed Camera Vans

Well said, DrPhill, I completely agree and I can't see anywhere in any of my posts where I advocated doing anything dissimilar. I am only saying a speed limit is an arbitrary line in the sand that can in the right circumstances, be stepped over, if you are happy to take the risk, WITHOUT...

    anyone lease hire their van

One big advantage of leasing is that you can offset all the costs as an expense. Buying, you get a diminishing percentage allowable to offset. The sweet spot is a nearly new van, as has been said, on hire purchase. I usually financed all my vehicles and changed them every three years. There was...

    Moxon Vice build

I will take a shot of the attachment method for you. The collars just push fit into the holes, interference fit. They don't serve any other purpose than looking nice......and I guess prevent the wooden holes getting messy round the edge over time and useage.... Thanks for all the compliments...
