    Glue help please!

Quite correct. Actually needed to glue 18, top and bottom so as to ensure the back frame mates with the rear posts correctly. I have just finished it and it is clamped and setting with a dry fit to the posts which I shall glue tomorrow. Cheers Lyn

    Glue help please!

Hi Jim Out of interest, did the Bison expand or not? Not that it really matters much. As a test I made up two laminated rockers using Gorilla wood glue and they came out OK so may use those anyway. I am about to start glue up on the front and back sections as shown. With 30 M&T joints I...

Blocking a cooker air vent, wasp entry

Easiest solution is to screw a ventilation louvre on the outside that has an insect screen and covers the entire air cavity. i.e. https://www.screwfix.com/p/map-vent-fixed-louvre-vent-with-flyscreen-white-229-x-152mm/4695d

    Wax?

I used candle wax pearls bought from fleabay cheaply heated in a roasting tin (caution) on a single ring electric heater but I can vouch for the Chestnut end seal. It's much easier but pricey.

    Glue help please!

No problem Jim, I'm nowhere near glue up yet. Thanks for the reply, as I said I have Gorilla PU but that expands like hell and is brown so wasn't sure how it would look. I'll give Glues Direct a shout and see what they say about the Bison. Cheers Lyn

    Glue help please!

Hi Jim I know PU stains skin badly but never used it on oak so don't know if that would happen as it expands from the joint. Which PU glue would you advise, or does it matter? I have Gorilla PU glue already. Edit: Re the sub assembly, it consists of back frame, front frame, and the two are...

    Glue help please!

Thanks to all. Reading your responses I am inclined to lean towards Titebond 3 with longer open time and moisture resistance. I have used PU before and whilst the longer open time is attractive I'm not sure how to cope with the extruded excess (guaranteed with me). The spec says sand off...

    Glue help please!

I hope I'm not opening a bag of worms here (as in sharpening advice😱) but can I call upon the wisdom of others here for advice on glue. I am putting together an oak rocking chair which will ultimately be used and stored in an unheated summerhouse with all associated temperature/moisture...
