    Found Wanted: large bandsaw

Hi @Alexam Definitely interested in that one (I sent you a PM about it yesterday after seeing your post on the other wanted bandsaw thread!). J3 M42 would be easy for me. Could you share some photos and some more dimensions (height of the underside of the table and the top of the table and...

    Found Wanted: large bandsaw

I'm looking for a fairly large, fairly powerful and well made second-hand bandsaw. The main reason I want it is for resawing relatively wide boards, so I'd like a cut depth of at least 200 mm, preferably more and I'd like one designed for a 2hp+ motor. Most of the ones I've seen on ebay seem...

This isn't really woodwork, but it's for woodwork so I thought I'd post it on here in case anyone's interested... My vacuum cleaner has a power-tool socket on it that detects when a connected power tool starts up and causes the vacuum cleaner to start automatically (and then stop automatically...

The discs are coated in diamonds. You can get them very cheaply in 100 mm or 150 mm diameter (I use the larger size) and grits from 80 to 3000. I mostly use the 240 one so far for reshaping and then put a secondary bevel on with a waterstone. The discs cost me about £5 each; I've since seen...

Finished this a few weeks ago, but finally got round to writing it up for my website: a slow-speed grinder for reshaping and maybe sharpening chisels, plane blades etc: Lots more pictures (including higher resolution ones and photos of the insides) here: CGTK - Slow-Speed Grinder

Black CA glue and activator - uk supplier?

Würth activator seems quite easy to get hold of from ebay etc. RS do Loctite and own-brand rubber-loaded superglue (which is what I think all the black stuff is) as well as own-brand activator: https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/glues/9186885/ https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/glues/0514593/...

It uses a javascript library called jsc3d. It's fairly straightforward to use (as javascript libraries go). Other bits of the site (e.g. this one) use openjscad instead, but that requires the 3D model to be drawn in openjscad (which is useful for some things, but not when you're exporting from...

I blame YouTube, how many more Americanisms are we going to have to suffer ?

True, but most of the times it's confused me is on youtube videos or TV programmes or whatever. Besides, it's not that hard† to type Alt+0176 is it?! † Yes, yes it is that hard, purely from a memory point of view. It bugs me that Microsoft think that's a good way to enter symbols. It bugged...

I blame YouTube, how many more Americanisms are we going to have to suffer ?

We can hardly claim consistency there though - if you go to Nottingham, they call roundabouts "traffic islands" or just "islands". Where I grew up, "traffic islands" were the little raised areas in the road (usually with a road sign on) to separate traffic. Took me a while to figure out what...

I blame YouTube, how many more Americanisms are we going to have to suffer ?

I didn't realise that both spellings were used. I had assumed it followed the pattern I've seen in most American English words with the same spelling for all meanings. For example, we use practice as a noun and practise as a verb; in America I believe practice is used regardless; similarly...

    Fusion 360 - interesting developments

... and they have prior history of deciding to remove the free option (which of course they can do at any time as you have to renew every year) - I used to use Autodesk Draftsight for 2D CAD, but they stopped that from being available free.
