As Pat says, I'd split in half and make a matching set of 4 small bowls, alternatively turn them both as spindles and make 2 matching vases, no need to hollow out if you can drill the hole to around 20mm. Looking at the bark I'm not sure it's Birch though.

Did I see these in a woodturning magazine? Someone at my local clubs open day had also made one, not as nice as yours though

Fortunately for me mine have been "borrowed" from the school art cupboard, they're just acrylic paint really and no different to the stuff you get in the paint kits in the shops.

Thanks Scooby, it's taking ages to fill the little pots, and still need to make up a COSHH sheets for the paint but that shouldn't be too hard as long as can get away with printing at work.
