    disposing of chemicals and finishes

Hydrogen peroxide is a great cleaner/disinfector, I've even used small amounts of it to deal with problem algae infestations in my aquariums. It's great for disinfecting your kitchen white goods, especially dishwashers and washing machines. Whereabouts are you?

    Record Coronet Herald bench feet.

This is the same for me, I really like my RP DML24 lathe but I would like more and easier speed control, minimum speed (first gear) of 400 sometimes isn't slow enough to stop some finishes being flung off or for internal sanding items with big voids and there's a huge difference between the mid...

    Signing work

You can get a heated stamp that burns your mark into the wood, either one you have to heat up with a flame (fairly cheap) or one with a built in heat element you need to plug in (about £100)

Ahhh, then put 2 jumpers on 🤪🤪🤪🤪 I have a little fan heater I put on whilst I'm out there if it's too cold, I also don't leave it unattended whilst it's on or for half hour after I turn it off.

Did mine in the sprocket and chain of my motorbike 😁😁😁😁 Scary really how a moment of carelessness can have life changing results

    Lets see your wood

Lots more splitting and sealing this afternoon, only had a couple of hours but got quite a bit done, trying to sort my wood stock into species as everything is starting to get all mixed up. I've got a pile of birch blocks to sort through and see what's usable and what's burnable along with 2 big...

Nature of the game WARNING this post contains graphic images of a hand injury

I'll add, having had a section of finger ripped off myself, the pain after the surgery was extreme for months so don't be surprised if he isn't around for a while.

You're assuming he did it on a machine that required push sticks, whilst it's entirely possible I dont think any of us should be jumping to assumptions, after all, to assume only makes an *** of u and me.

    Lets see your wood

I had the same Jan last year, huge Ash tree being cut down across the road, ruined my shoulder carrying it across the road then having to use a handsaw to divide it all up, had an exray done a couple months ago and there's some excessive wear in that shoulder joint now 🥴 was almost worth it...

    Lets see your wood

Spent my afternoon moving the logs from the playground, across the carpark and up to my garage door, a distance of around 100m, so very glad I have a set of wheels on a steel frame ( thank-you tesco 😁) they're not huge pieces but they are very heavy, love the orange colour of the wet faces...

    Bowl Thickness Calipers for woodturning?

I use both of my sets of calipers quite a lot. You could just make your own, they would be the size you want then

Not until after work tomorrow, hopefully the cracks will be minimal and I'll be able to cut through them

    Lets see your wood

Yup, although it is starting to split already so may not get any big blanks from it by the time I manage to get it split down.

    Lets see your wood

Local tree surgeon gave me a call this morning saying they needed somewhere to tip 2 loads of lime woodchip, they got my number from a website I signed up to a while ago, I was more than happy to take the wood chip for the school wildlife areas as well as a pile of logs for myself

It looks like it's a piece of natural edge rather than something he cut in, probably from the crotch area of the log he used.

    First time for everything...

So last week on Friday 2nd Feb I went to my first ever live music show to see Peyton Parrish at the O2 Shepherds Bush, it was fantastic but the best bit came at the end of the night when the drummer threw his sticks into the drowd- The base is chestnut and the capture is a piece of ebony kindly...
