    Need to escape/reset

Creating these things allows me to escape and concentrate on only what I'm doing, the plan has always been for one of the bedrooms to be part guest room part craft room so I can work on projects in peace, hopefully it will happen 🙃

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Thanks Mick 😁 Kinda OK at the minute, SWMBO and I had a short talk, don't want to overwhelm her, just waiting a few days to see if anything changes before I press the issue again. My best to your lovely wife, how are her willow wands doing? Mine are only just starting to show signs of life.

Thanks guys, seems like it's generally not the best idea, for whisky at least, I'll let my friend know its not a good idea.

We have white walls at school, I use a product called wet and forget a couple times a year to prevent algae growth and staining, works very well but is expensive.

    Whisky tumblers -advice please

The honey wax from what I can find is made from honey, sugar and lemon juice, commonly used for hair removal in beauty treatments, would be foodsafe but would not last long.

    Whisky tumblers -advice please

So a friend has asked if I'd be able to turn a set of whisky tumblers for another friend, both of them are also colleagues, preferably from oak, I've said I'll look into it before accepting so here I am, a few questions 1- end grain/side grain does it matter? 2- I've seen a couple of YouTube...

Advice on reasonable scroll saw and extras

I'll have a look tomorrow, it may be Parkside, it's all metal construction with a flexi drill attachment for drilling the pilot holes, as for ease of use, I couldn't comment as I've never used it, bought it for the sake of having it, now it just sits there gathering dust.

OK guys be gentle, I haven't turned anything for nearly 6 weeks so this isn't perfect, needed a break from the papercraft flowers leaving gift for my headteacher and seem to be getting the mold and humidity in the makerspace under control (slowly) so mounted an Ash crotch that was cut over a...

    Lets see your wood

Soooooooo I've got 4 silver birch coming down soon to make way for new classrooms, The tree surgeon has agreed to cut them however I want, my thinking is this, remove the tops and wodchip everything under 6inch thick, the crowns at the top of the stems can be left as a whole log and maybe...

Recommendations for seasoning a holly log

I've got a small stack of pieces, mostly about 2ft long ranging from 2 to 6 inches diameter, all sealed with wax, a couple of the bigger ones have checked where the wax seal has separated from the surface of the wood and most has discoloured, probably because its stacked horizontally.
