Will I need 2 chucks? Large and small.

I only have 1 chuck with 1 set of 50mm jaws but can easily hold 20mm stuff by using the relief gap in the centre, it's not as good as small jaws but it's perfectly safe for small stuff you're not putting much pressure on.

As Pat and Paul state above, the pits will be wrapped in AstroTurf and capped with decking boards, no sharp / scratchy edges and it will look good 😜😜😜😜

Once I'd had a rest and a play with the doggos I went out to sand and finish the cherry hammer head I turned yesterday, OMG it's absolutely stunning so I ended up doing the half ball counter weight with the opposite half of log, a tiny crack in it but I don't mind it, the sheen from the friction...

Something very different today, the year R playground have needed new mud and sand pits for a while and I've finally got school to let me rebuild them properly instead of making wooden frames that rot away in a few years, last week I ripped out the rotten sleepers (some are oak and have been put...

Not impossible but would be a lot of work, the cracks are extensive, I'd have to fill them and make a feature of them, would be easier to cast in resin but that's not for me.

Rooting around my garden woodside I found 3 big lumps of cherry that I was given almost 3 years ago, they're still very heavy even with quite a bit of soft stuff, I took a piece out to the garage and started removing the bark so I could see how badly the cracks had spread, turns out very badly...

    Epoxy thickener

Partially tape over the crack with duct tape leaving the "highest" point open, pour in your resin or CA until full then complete the seal with more duct tape and move on the next, once done wrap the entire thing tightly in clingfilm/shrink wrap and go get a cuppa and wait for it to dry/ set.

I'll pass for now, the glued section would likely come off during use and I don't have funds at the minute, have to find the cash to pay my shop rent for this month. Thank you for looking though I really do appreciate it 😁

    Wood id.

I also agree it looks like Yew, as said make sure you wear a mask as the dust is toxic. Interestingly the red berries produced by this bush/tree are edible as long as you remove the pip/seed as even 1 or 2 would make you severely sick.

It's not so different from a flat rimmed bowl unless the live edge is extremely wavey. Feel free to come over for some practice, I've loads of Lime blanks you can practice on 😉

That would be greatly appreciated, I'm thinking I'd want the finished size at around 50mm diameter so a blank around 60x60x150 should be enough for what I have in mind, let me know what I owe you for it.

Had a plumber in doing some work in the boiler room today, one of the inline filters needed replacing, as he threw it to one side I looked at it and thought it would make a really good tool so brought it to the makerspace and used a wire wheel to clean it up, have a look for yourselves, do you...
