Another bargain if you can live with the electrics!

I don't know that it stands for anything. It's just the model. However the 'B' does indicate it was made at one of the former Bursgreen factories. Christmas cheers, Vann.

As Sirocosm points out, that's just silly Phil. Car drivers should know their place - and hang their heads in shame. Cheers, Vann.

Okay, I'll rephase that. It's prats in supermarkets, not wearing masks because they think they know more than scientists, that I would gladly beat to death... For prats on forums, with similar views, I'm still considering my options. But just to bring some humour back - the thing about farts...

It's people in supermarkets not wearing masks that I would gladly beat to death with a can of beans (or a can of fruit, or beetroot...) Cheers, Vann.

Knees and hips are just as likely to need attention in the obese (= intolerant car drivers ;)) as in cyclists. Now, if you'd said broken bones and lacerations... Cheers, Vann.

I agree. And you haven't mentioned NHS costs to treat obesity in those who drive everywhere instead of exercising. Cheers, Vann.

Are you suggesting tobacco taxes should only be spent on developing better tobacco (or maybe better facilities for smokers)? Cheers, Vann.

    Wadkin PP fence question

Here is the sketch of the pin (redrawn by me) But before you get one made, check the locating hole. I have seen one that was drilled out and the pin modified to 5/8" diameter. I'd also suggest you get it made overlength in case the sliding table lock pin is longer than the mitre pin (easier...

    Wadkin PP fence question

I assume you mean the locking pin that stops it sliding? I'm at work again (on a Sunday :() but I've got a sketch (provided by an Aussie) and some photos of the pin on the double mitre - which I believe is the same pin. It is possible that the PP pin is different... Cheers, Vann.

    Wadkin PP fence question

Thanks for the tag photo. Test 82158 was carried out at Wadkin's Green Lane works in 1971 or 1972 - http://www.wadkinrestorations.co.uk/machine-date.html The old theory that the first two digits of the test number are the year of manufacture, has long since been discreditted - at least for...

    Wadkin PP fence question

    - 3/8" BSW tapped hole "A" should contain a tee handle. - Ball lever handle "B" should be a sliding tee handle identical to that beneath the yellow arrow. - Tapped hole "C" (there are 2 of these) should have a grub screw with a slot - to retain the fence pivot pins. On G4 fences these screws...

    Wadkin PP fence question

It's a G3 fence (~1938-1948), so it will have those blocks Wallace refers to as part of the casting. On my battle-scarred G3 saw the blocks under the fence were badly worn, so I had a groove machined into it in order to fit blocks like a G4 fence. Before surgery. After surgery. Cheers, Vann.

    Wadkin PP fence question

That's the same as my Wadkin PK fence. Originally designed for the PJ, I guess, but with fittings like a G3 or G4 PK. 1971 or 1972 surely? Can you put up a photo of the Wadkin tag please? There is no pointer on the PK fence. There are however some graduations marked on the curved casting, and...

You two are just boring old farts ;). I liked the Goon Show - but for me I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again was the ultimate radio comedy. And I have to say, Felicity Kendal did it for me too. Cheers, Vann.

    Planer/thicknesser/jointer confusion!

You must have fancy pallets over there. Most of the pallets I see are rough sawn, and often with not very parallel faces. Cheers, Vann.

    Planer/thicknesser/jointer confusion!

Surface planer (UK) = Jointer (Nth America) = Buzzer (Aust. & NZ) - Used to plane one face true - then using fence to plane a second face (edge) at 90 degrees to the first. Thicknesser (UK, Aust. & NZ) = Planer (Nth America) - used to make timber parallel (preferably after first planing true)...

    Five head planer

It would be great to save it, if you have the room to store it until you have time to rebuild it (and repower it). But you can't save everything. If it's going to take so much room you restrict what work you can do, or if it's just too big for the type of work you do, then sadly let it go...

    Woden W78 mystery part

Here's a link to my earlier thread: https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/woden-w78.45529/#post-627038 And I note the threads are 5/16" BSF - not BSW (post above corrected). Cheers, Vann.
