    Pantry Built-ins

updated drawings i think I’ll update the wine racks. I’d assumed the common design, but yours is much simplr to make Cabinetman, so I’ll probably go with something similar

    Pantry Built-ins

Not much to update on this. Radiator arrived and was fitted, so the old one is no longer in the way (and the heating situation is much improved!). I've revised the plan to remove the triangles from cabinets/doors, and replaced those awkward sections with a large wine rack, which I think is...

Some sort of liner (washable or disposable) wouldn't be a bad idea 🤔

    Bird update... 0 birds :(

    Pantry Built-ins

Looks like I might have a bit of a problem sourcing melamine faced mdf/ply for the drawer bases. I figure I can veneer my own. Would anybody suggest alternatives to melamine? Objective is spillproof durability

    Linear sander

Does anybody other than Festool make a linear sander? Their LS130EQ looks really handy for particular jobs, but as a hobbiest I definitely can't/won't justify the price. I wonder if there is another tool that does the job? I can't imagine a multi tool being particularly great for the job, or...

    Vaccine Passports (domestic).

Nice of you to bring up another problem I have with most political conversations. Distilling somebody's views down to "are you for or against", and "if you disagree with X then you clearly are against" is a nonsense that ends up with polarising views, and the horrific state of politics that we...

    Vaccine Passports (domestic).

How indeed. I'm glad that you're asking the question, that's a good starting point.

    Vaccine Passports (domestic).

A general problem I have with most political conversations, is when people say "we shouldn't do A because XYZ may happen". As I rarely see anybody providing solutions for XYZ, it leads me to believe that XYZ have been brought up to support the argument against A, rather than actually forming...

    Fancy Bird Table

I've had half a dozen comments on the seats. They're supposed to be a little fence 🤣. Currently sat working watching for birds, who are steadfastly ignoring it 🙄 Yeah that's a good idea 👍🏼

    Fancy Bird Table

With spring arriving and having been working from home since March 2020, I decided that I wanted to see birds out of my office window. I had some oak salvaged from cabinet doors, so I made a fancy bird table 😍. I’ve totally disregarded any consideration of wood movement or effects of...

presumably that makes you want to do both of those things right?

New Workshop Build - I don't know where to start

Minor rant. Our house is leasehold with various covenants that force us to get permission to make any alterations (or cats lol). We decided that it would be better to buy the leasehold (yes we are aware of possible law changes) than to spend money on getting permission. Spoke to the solicitor...

    Poker chips

A nicely timed video from Tamar at 3x3Custom I was surprised by how effective the router method was. I'd need a 20mm round over bit and to make a jig to minimise waste, but that's the solution to 1 problem :)

What do you filter your paint with and into?

cheap filters from amazon, they are awful. I do need to dilute before passing them through unless I want to wait 15 minutes, but neither of those options are a problem. You need to dilute most paints for spraying anyway.

    Screwfix vouchers

This, but maybe use them to buy something that you currently scrimp on. Do you use sandpaper until it's more paper than sand? Drill bits always too blunt? Never got a clean brush? Stuff you wouldn't normally justify spending on, but that you know you should.

    Large log finishing

I wouldn't worry about them splitting, it's just part of the character of a finished piece imo. Bow ties are nice too :). Oh, and finish painting your fence man!
