    Choosing a chuck.

Have you looked at Nova Chucks? Most of their offerings come with a threaded insert to fit your lathe and should you migrate to a different size you only need to get the new inserts. They have a huge range of jaws that fit across most of their range of chuck sizes. Pete

    Calor gas bottles for barbecue.

So where would a pellet smoker fit into your pecking order? Pellets being compressed hardwood bought in bags. They are quite popular here. My wife is hell bent on getting a portable one to take camping and to use at home...

Exporting furniture to Europe, custom fees, general dubious behaviour.

I kind of figure the relatives would have to pay taxes etc when they got home but thought all the export/import paperwork might be less of a hassle if needed at all. Pete

    Memorial cross

Looks good. So are you going to reveal the secrets of how you did it? Pete

Exporting furniture to Europe, custom fees, general dubious behaviour.

Curious if the relative did the holiday instead and brought the table back themselves if the importing would be any easier? Just bringing a gift from the family back sir. :) Pete

    Hole enlarging on a lathe

I think he is talking about a soil compactor. Like these. https://multiquip.co.uk/product-category/categories-by-application/compaction/mikasa-compaction-plate/ Maybe an electric one but similar. Pete

RUST Prevention on TOOLS- I am giving up on Camellia Oil...

I guess I'm lucky living in what amounts to a dry climate and having a well insulated, heated shop. No rust on any of the tools or machines. When I lived on the West Coast the shop was the basement and it was heated so no rust there either. I use paste wax on machine tables so the work slides...

    Making some 2mm laminate?

Could you use birch plywood? It comes in 2mm with 3 or 4 layers of veneer. Pete

    Vehicle batteries

Is your "truck" the motorhome you were traveling around in last/earlier this year? If so perhaps an RV dealer has a trickle charger kit that can be installed that you can use when it is in storage. You could always copy it if it is spendy and have a look at the parts. Pete

    Car wheel security nut

The only way I would put a non-stock nut/bolt on a wheel would be to get out of the bush and back to civilization and then I would replace it with the correct one asap. You have no way of knowing if the nut is of good steel or made of peanut butter. Pete

Jet JPT-260 spare parts - have I made a mistake buying this machine?

I can't say what your roller would cost to recondition vs a replacement but a pair of Makita feed rollers (12" wide) for a 2030 planer jointer costs in the neighbourhood of $500Cad where reconditioned ones are well under $200Cad for the pair. Worth looking into before assuming the new ones would...

    Mapping a field

A hiking app on the phone can mark locations reasonably close. You still want to call for a utility locating if you are going to do any digging. Pete

Jet JPT-260 spare parts - have I made a mistake buying this machine?

The rubber can be replaced by a roller reconditioning company. They do it for printers etc and can recommend the correct hardness (about 70 Shore D) for the operation the roller does. A very quick search and I found a bunch. Here are 3 to look into...

How would you cut game counters from dowels?

A shop vac hose with a coarse screen over the end will pull offcuts away from a saw blade, band or circular, as they are cut keeping fingers out of harms way. Pete

    Passwords

My iPhone has facial recognition to let me in and my banking and credit card apps both have facial recognition to get in. I've never looked but maybe there is a password manager that uses facial recognition that will work on your tablet assuming it has a camera that faces you. I find it hard to...

    Memorial cross

You could half lap the two square pieces (make them longer than needed). Then miter and glue on the beveled ones to the long grain. Finally bevel cut the ends. Pete

    Quality Disposable Latex Gloves

Another reason to use Nitrile gloves is the potential to get a latex allergy/sensitivity to them and not be able to tolerate any latex products at all. Pete

How to make the lid/top and not screw up mitres

My suggestion would not produce a flat top. The centre of the panel would be but the edge, having been planed to routed thinner would dip to allow the molding to sit and fasten to the sides. It would look like a raised panel door etc. Pete

    UV resin

I was at a seminar about UV resin at a woodturning symposium last weekend. The presenter said the resin and light should be matched as the resins are made to activate with a specific nanometer range. If the light is outside the range the resin was made to activate at the resin won't set...

How to make the lid/top and not screw up mitres

If it were my mistake I would cut a rebate around the edge of the sides so the top can sit flush and glue it. You would see half the thickness of the sides. Better to take wood movement into consideration would be to raise the edges of the top panel and hold it into the rebate with quarter round...
