    Joke Thread III

The guy dropped his Crocs because he found he could run on top of the water faster if he was barefoot. 🐊 😨 😉 😂 Pete

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

The Helicoil patents ran out a long time ago so the competitor products function just as well. Best if you can clamp the part in a drill press/pillar drill to maintain an on size, perpendicular hole. Much harder to do with a handheld drill but not impossible. Should make for a good repair. Pete

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

I would be afraid of it splitting the plastic being that close to the edge. Pete

Your tool so do as you like but the people I grew up around (father and neighbours) would have killed me if I used a steel hammer of any kind on a froe. Steel mushrooms the back edge of the tool. A wood glut (big mallet cut out of a log) doesn't. Pete

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

Those are a wood insert and expect they are too thick to use and where are you going to get a tap for those outside threads? Are you certain that is plastic and not metal of some kind? Pete

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

You have to use the kit. The tap has to duplicate the thread pitch you are replacing in a bigger diameter therefore it isn't a standard tap and the drill is also sized for it. You may or be able to get the drill bit separately but it's easier to use what comes in the kit. Now if you can find a...

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

Rather than re-tapping to a larger thread size and having an oddball on the machine you could do a Helicoil thread repair. Thread pitch stays the same and the repair is as strong or stronger than the parent material. Pete

Recommendations for a folding stowable kitchen stool/step

Perhaps a library chair would work for you. You have the stair when you need it and a spare chair the rest of the time. Plans abound everywhere. https://www.core77.com/posts/58815/Different-Design-Approaches-to-the-Transforming-Library-Chair Pete Edited to correct a forgotten letter.

    Laguna Revo 12-16 Lathe

I can think of at least 3 of our turning club's 50 odd members that have them. They seem happy with them although one had headstock problems (bad thread) and eventually was given a replacement lathe. There are likely a few more. I have an older Nova 3000 which is pretty much the same size so...

Another Fobco Star pillar drill resto

A mention that offsite hosting for picture posting is great as long as the host site doesn't go belly up or the poster doesn't let their account go. When that happens the pictures in the threads are gone rendering them nearly useless. Better for posterity if the images are loaded into the thread...

Vertical alignment of headstock and tailstock.

The lathe being level does not actually matter. What does matter is that it is in the same plane. For example if the tailstock end of the bench was 100mm lower than the headstock end and the bench leaned away from you 50mm, it would't matter as long as there is no twist. Think of the lathes on...

    New Dust Extractor ductwork.

The calculator show the speed in the results so you can be sure you have enough. With that though is the understanding that if one uses a single 4" branch it will only flow about 400cfm so when it gets to the bigger main trunk it slows way down and drops the dust which will get picked up when...

    New Dust Extractor ductwork.

I played briefly with this calculator Duct Friction Loss and 8" duct, galvanized, 50' long at 2500CFM and 3 of 90º 5 piece elbows has a loss of almost 7". Same thing again with 10" and the loss is 2.4". Better to run the 10" and then use 3 machines with 6" ducts open at all times to feed it. If...

Help - urn size x6 persons

It is going to be a big box. A rough calculation puts it being a volume of about 17 litres. Might be easier if he used a 20 litre pail and lid. A bucket of bodies. 😂 Sorry that was bad of me. Pete

Help - urn size x6 persons

A quick search got me a calculator that gives you the volume in cups or in cubic inches. You could either search for one at your end and get similar in metric amounts, or convert from this one. problems with union graduate lathe and patriot chuck

I have a couple thread files like that (they can be handy) but they are no where near coarse enough to do a lathe shaft. Using a triangular/three corner file needs care to use especially for your old 55º thread forms. Sometimes the little Swiss needle file sets work nicely. Pete

    Nobex Mitre Saw Blades

Why don't you contact LV and ask what shipping would be for a blade or two? The conversion from Cad to £ makes them about £17. So the big unknown would be if the amount is low enough to get through without getting dinged for taxes etc. Dictum in Germany have them but don’t know if they are...
