New Workshop - Down Lighters or Light Fittings

This chart might help you decide on the level of light intensity you might want to have. Mine is 625 sq ft/ 58 sqm and I have 64,000 lumens of 6,000K light from 16 baton fixtures in 4 rows. Nice and bright. Pete

Wood identification! Sorry.. looks like another...

I don't think that is teak and definitely not oak. Tropical and perhaps one of the mahoganies or similar. Pete

Levelling my mitre saw with worktop

Shims of plastic, poster board, metal shim stock, cut up beverage cans, sheet metal flashing, washers, etc. You're only limited by your imagination and surroundings. Once you get it level you can cut something the exact thicknesses and put them under. You other option would be to put in hanger...

    Corded impact driver?

Corded impact drivers were traditionally 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and probably 1" square drives for sockets with 3/4" ones around 500Nm. The 1/4" hex drive came about when they added them to the cordless world to supplement drill/drivers, thus more or less skipping the corded world. Home Depot has...

Should we have a CNC Forum on UKW?

I voted yes but have no personal interest in it myself. It is and will become the goto for some woodworkers in the future because of their versatility. Stands to reason it should be a part of this forum too. Pete

    Successful drilling

The OP is drilling through 20mm thick material per the first sentence of the first post. Step drill bits are meant to drill sheet metal. Pete

    Successful drilling

I watched the machinists drilling both manually and with the CNC mills. They would spot with a bit bigger than the final size just deep enough to leave the hole slightly countersunk when final drill size was done, de-burred in other words. Then if they didn't drill to final size right away would...

Nice hardware. A link would have saved me searching for them. 😉 Bookmarked now. Andrew is there a Canadian distributor for them if I ever have a worthy project? If not ordering direct is no problem. Pete

    New Dust Extractor ductwork.

Big beastie. If you get a chance can you measure the impeller? Diameter, height and number of blades? I'm curious. I think the duct diameter would be about right for the 5.5kw /7.5hp motor it has. The ClearVue's CV1950 cyclones with a 3.7kw / 5hp motor and 16" impeller use 8" ducting. Pete

CNC milling machine expandable bed size

Have you considered a Maslow? Set it up, do the work and then put it away until next time. Maybe not the machine for small delicate stuff but you could have a little tabletop machine for that. It is also the least costly way to have a big CNC in a home shop. Disclaimer. I don't have one or any...

    Veneer guillotine for parquetry.

Would a paper cutter / guillotine work? At work we used to use one to cut brass shim stock up to .5mm. Pete

Centauro 400 SSP Bandsaw (does anyone have a manual!)

deema how close are the chainsaw bar tip grease guns to the oiler you linked? Same, similar or not the same at all? Reason for asking is that I have a couple of the little grease guns and if they can be used for oiling I'll dedicate one...
