What improvements do you think i could make to my jig?

Is the jig meant to be used with the fence? I don't like that because there is a possibility of the wood being trapped if it isn't thicknessed before being cut. Edit. I reread you opening post and see the jig is for positioning the fence and is then pulled away. I also see the bandsaw being a...

    Festool TS Blades

I have a Freud 14 tooth alternating tooth rip blade but it is closer to 2.4mm or 2.5mm (3/32") that did a nice job of ripping Oak. They might make a 2.2mm blade. You would have to check. The upside to Festool blade is that there would be no shaving of the rubber strip since I would expect them...

    De-rusting taps and dies

Acids even as mild as citric acid or vinegar works all surfaces including the edges. Which basically means it dulls the cutting edges. better is Sideway's suggestion of electrolysis or the products like Evaporust or Restore products (made in the UK) They don't remove the parent metals. Pete

    inexpensive 3/8" brad point long

You could see if these guys will send you a set. BRAD POINT DRILL SET 7PC EXTRA LONG One option is to drill with a regular brad point bit and then switch to a long 118º twist bit to finish the hole. Another option is to locate a long twist drill and re-profile the tip to a brad point. What...

    Brass infill mallet?

Lee Valley makes a version in their collection so that signifies to me that they aren't all that common but I'm not a neanderthal. 😉 https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/tools/hand-tools/mallets/50229-veritas-cabinetmakers-mallet?item=05E1501 Pete

    Festool Domino patent

I bought my Lamello in the mid 80's and it was stratospheric in price and didn't come down much when the imitators followed. The really cheap versions were and are not worth buying. I suspect similar for the imitators that follow the Domino. My father was working in furniture factories in...

    Shortening a fence

Train a woodpecker or if you have a pond nearby recruit a beaver. The edge will have a natural, been there a long time look. If hand sawing a hard point pull saw is fast and easy, especially cutting horizontally. You do have tool rental stores where you could get a circular saw for a day don't...

    Trim Router

I have a Makita 3700B trimmer that I have had since sometime in the early to mid 80's. Simple and always turns on. Given that it is still made says something about the quality and longevity of Makita tools. It lives with a 1/8" round over bit in it. If I wanted a second I would get one of the...

How to reproduce grooved cupboard door face?

You can find molding heads on your eBay but would have to modify the knives as well as having a saw with a long enough arbor to fit. Or you can buy new from Eastern Canada. Moldingknives.com Their beadboard series knives are what you are looking for. The £ is about two times our Canadian...

How to reproduce grooved cupboard door face?

It would probably help if you could post a picture or link to what you are looking to make. Here we have planer moulders (thicknesser that also can do straight or curved mouldings (I have 2 kinds) but they are not sold in the UK to my knowledge. Williams & Hussey Machine and Tool Co...

    Sharing Serial Numbers

I see publishing it as a shopping list for those that don't pay for things. You should give your insurance agent the list in case you have a loss or at least have a friend or relative holding a copy. Making the unpopulated database available to woodworkers so they could fill out their own would...

Help Needed Please! Electric Machine Fault.

I think mine is a doodle to open up. It has a tilting table with a fixed frame. The control box with innards in attached to the base with cables going to the motor and wall. Entirely self contained rather than built into the frame like yours. Motor has a belt to the shaft and arms at the rear of...

Help Needed Please! Electric Machine Fault.

    New House, New Workshop Build.

Sorry to hear of your builder problems. I know how it feels. I had the builder of our new house 7 years ago that promised the world but barely delivered a rock. It was a fixed price so he took every opportunity to take a short cut, use the cheapest products and contract the lowest bidding trade...
