Table Saw kickback and trimmed finger (Graphic description & images)

Bruce the reason the Brits shun those kind of push sticks and the Gripper type is that your hands have to pass over the blade to complete the cut. If and when a kickback happens the work and the push stick shoot out of the blade area leaving your hand above the blade, usually dropping on to it...

Table Saw kickback and trimmed finger (Graphic description & images)

As kids we cloths pinned them to the forks because the flapping noise from them slapping the spokes sounded neat. 😎 Kind of like a motorcycle when you are 6. 🏍️ Pete

Barbara you are to be commended for talking about your mishap to warn others and I hope you the best of recovery outcomes. While some of the comments here lean towards chastisement they are made with the best of intentions and they shouldn't put you off. The reason you will never see a...

    Travel Tool Chest / Workbench

Wonderful work. I don't think I would even try even with the full arsenal of machines I have. I noticed no holes for a hold down clamp or two. 😉 Pete

    Series 3: Britain's Best Woodworker

They call the show "Good With Wood" here. I don't know if it makes it any better with a different name. 😉 Pete

    New House, New Workshop Build.

If the water is that deep siphoning it off with a garden hose would be the easiest. Drain the hose at night when you can't watch it. Wet and dry vac when the siphon has done it's thing. We don't see roofs like that except on the most expensive houses. Nice. Pete

Wanted Dovetail guide wanted - Katz Moses or similar

    Upside down doors

I would say you could be right except in the second sentence the OP said "doors". That implies to me that there were several all installed incorrectly. When you "cocked up something" did you do it over and over? Pete

    Clifton Number 3 Plane Blade

That raised edge along the top of the picture looks like it was cut with a shear. Perhaps the edge of the original sheet stock. I can't speak for Clifton or anyone else but I feel that should have been removed when they made the blade. At this point if Clifton doesn't replace it, as others have...

    Containers. Planning permissions?

I went with the Big Steel Box option because they dropped the box in our suburban driveway with a tilt bed truck for me to load. Removed it and took it to their yard and brought me a second to fill. When they had both they loaded them on to a truck and shipped them to Saskatoon for about...

    Containers. Planning permissions?

In 2015/16 I was paying about £100 equivalent a month to store a 20' while our house was built. So your rate isn't bad. Pete

    Mac and HP printer

I use a dough sheeter (if just for only one or two, a regular rolling pin) to roll clay flat and write on it with a triangular tipped stick. Good enough for the ancients....good enough for me. Pete

New member overwlemed by a new 24BAO/S - 24" Thickness Planer

Nice toy. Only thing missing is the steam catapult for launching fighters. I'd love one of those but it would fall through the floor onto the wires car in the garage below. How long are the tables? Pete

How would you make this oilstone box lid with hand tools?

I'll admit I'm not much of a hand tool guy but I would approach it the same way as I do when using my open sided planer/molder to make raised panels. It does a great job on long straight grain but can blow out the corners of end grain. My solution is to either glue panels together so they are...

What improvements do you think i could make to my jig?

That Hitachi actually had 16" wheels much like the Makita (had one) and Ryobi versions of the time. Blades were thinner than normal and has Stellite tips. They were meant for job site sawing of softwoods used in Shoji screens and timber buildings. That wood was the best they could get from...

    Help, cladding Newel Posts

Deema if you are open to a router bit there are a number of small lock miter bits out there. They are made for 3/8" to 1/2" stock so you could use solid or veneered plywood/MDF. An example. Amazon.ca I have a detail biscuit machine that was made by Ryobi many years ago (DBJ-50) and it is...
