    Sharpening

I suppose much depends on how often you need to sharpen your wood turning tools. I don’t do a lot of turning so I don’t need to sharpen them very often. For a professional, they probably get good at sharpening by hand so it’s maybe quicker and easier for them? I picked up a used scraper cheaply...

    Electric vehicles

I don’t understand it either. Folks say EV’s are too *expensive and until recently I haven’t disagreed so why is an expensive car like the Tesla Model Y selling so well in Europe? EV sales are expected to slow though in 2024 as many motorists are apparently waiting for sub €25K EV’s to arrive...

    Buying from Zoro

Zoro also sell stuff on eBay, often at a slightly lower price for some items. I bought a deburring tool from them.

    Sharpening

I’ve recommended this setup to several wood turners on a tight budget. Some of them had a grinder already so they just needed to get the Sorby jig. I never heard any complaints from those that bought it. Then again, I’ve recommended the Pro Edge as well to those that have the money and they...

The Chinese Car market is the biggest in the World. Can European car makers survive such a huge loss in sales to China? Interesting times ahead.

    Sharpening

I don’t disagree, I use jigs myself. I disagreed with the statement about professionals, I’ve seen several sharpen free hand. I happened to remember a Stuart Batty demonstration where he stopped to sharpen a gouge. It was done before some could mount one in a jig to get ready to sharpen it.

    Sharpening

I don’t see the advantage of taking twice as long to sharpen a gouge? 😆 The vast majority of turners seem to use HSS tools these days so it’s almost impossible to draw the temper using a grinder no matter what speed it runs at. Personally I prefer a flat grind so I use a belt grinder.

    It never happens in Europe!

I’m not sure it’s worth the investment given how much snow we get in the UK? How much use would a snow plough get in Sussex? 😆

    Diesel Fumes

It’s not just particulates, NOx is bad as well.

    Who’s Making Marmalade?

I love Marmalade but try to limit my refined sugar intake so I don’t have it very often. I’d like to try this stuff to see what it’s like. If it’s any good then maybe I could make my own...

    Sharpening

Yes agreed. An 8” bench grinder would be a better bet in my view. You can buy or make the jigs for it.

As already stated by pe2dave, it’s also the loss in value of their EV fleet due to Tesla price cuts. They are though keeping two thirds of their EV’s so I’m guessing there are still enough people that want to rent them?

Kity 613 Bandsaw wheels not in line?

I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it but have a look on YouTube for the Alex Snodgrass bandsaw setup. I found it very helpful. The top and bottom wheels have never lined up on my RP bandsaw but it cuts fine.

Makita RT0702C trim router collet size confusion

I’ve bought 6mm shank router bits from these folks. Good quality and prices. They also sell through eBay and Amazon. They sell lots of different types. Just one example...
