    Verne Autotaxi

https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/363539/taxi-future-heads-manchester-verne-self-driving-robo-taxi-approved-use We all get older and will not be able to drive at some point so, this technology looks great if it can make private transport more affordable.

    Choosing a chuck.

A slight aside. I’ve got quite a few chucks and I reckon the Axminster chucks are better quality than many others on the market. They are though far more expensive than some. Apart from the quality of the chuck itself the SK100 and SK114 and the jaws to fit them are stainless steel. Given the...

    Calor gas bottles for barbecue.

I actually agree with the terminology. I bought an outdoor gas cooker for the convenience many years ago. It was handy but the food tasted like it was cooked indoors. I got rid of it and bought a Weber instead and the food tastes nicer. I can also add wood chips to modify the taste if I want...

    Choosing a chuck.

In my case the insert was supplied by the manufacturer of the chuck, Record Power. In my experience using adapters for anything can often lead to failure.

    Choosing a chuck.

I had a Record Power SC3 chuck with an insert and it didn’t run true. It could have been the chuck or the insert but either way I’ve only bought direct threaded chucks since then.

    Choosing a chuck.

You could buy the Versachuck and get these, they are in stock. The jaws are generally cheaper than the Axminster ones anyway. You could get the Axminster carriers later when they’re back in stock.

    Double fail for Amazon

A friend of mine said something similar but still admitted he bought stuff from them. I’m still wondering why he opened his mouth for that one.

    Double fail for Amazon

If I had to consider where a product came from or who the CEO is I’d probably struggle to buy anything. Not buying a product because you think you don’t like the boss seems a bit silly to me, especially if you’re paying more to buy what you want elsewhere. I’ve always disliked Bill Gates so not...

    Choosing a chuck.

A big lathe should handle overhang much better than a small lathe. If you’re using a tailstock for support then it doesn’t matter anyway. I watched a live demo two weeks ago and the Axminster AT1416VS had a long adapter between the spindle and chuck. The demo was turning a small bowl and...

    Calor gas bottles for barbecue.

There used to be a Burger Restaurant up the road from me many years ago. The Burgers were “charcoal broiled” and tasted fantastic. If I could go back in time - about 45 years, I’d definitely pop in for a burger and a bottle or two of Schlitz.

    Calor gas bottles for barbecue.

My Pizza oven came with a Patio Gas regulator. As I don’t have a Patio Gas cylinder but do have two Propane cylinders I bought a Propane regulator for the oven instead. The regulator has a hand wheel fitting with a rubber sealing mechanism so no tools are required. I also bought a quick...

    Double fail for Amazon

I only buy stuff from Amazon if the price is right or I can’t get it elsewhere. Lots of places can compete on price but then charge silly amounts for shipping. Something I was after the other day only cost a few pounds but the shipping was four times the cost of the product.
