    Winter fuel Payments.

I thoroughly agree. Not everybody that could really do with the payment is on credits. Was Tony Blair means tested over child benefits when he was in office? I don’t remember any MP’s being on credits.

    Impact Driver

These are on offer again if anyone needs one. I’m very impressed with the one I bought some months ago.

    Elemen'tary Design screwdriver

Each to their own. I bought a set like this maybe 15 years ago and use it every week. More recently I bought this to go with it.

    sand blasting

Depends what you’re blasting and how often. The small MachineMart cabinet can’t accept large items anyway so my 2.5hp compressor works fine with it.

    “A Very Long Five Years”

Yes, it looks like it. The conservatives threw Pensioners under the bus by freezing the personal allowance until 2028. Now the winter fuel payment has been cut. I will no longer vote for either of these parties again. I didn't this year either by the way.

    REJECTION OF VEHICLE INSURANCE CLAIMS.

I knew a Policeman who had his car chipped to increase performance. He didn’t inform his insurance company (he said). Would this invalidate his insurance if he had an accident?

Measuring machine noise, effective soundproofing, etc.

My Apple Watch always warns me of high noise levels in the workshop.

    Joke Thread 4 (closed).

And I thought the UK was getting a bit too inclusive. The French are taking it to a whole new level. 😮

    Sharpening

Aha Gotcha! You just couldn’t help yourself. After all the discussions and heated words about the topic you just had to click on this thread. Relax. 😆 On any thread about sharpening there is always one guy who can sharpen really large, or really tiny, or really complex shaped tools totally by...

Sharpened drillbits not cutting vol 2

Yes, quite right. I always start the job with a spotting drill first (not a centre drill) when working on the lathe or mill. I then use a small drill bit and go up in size. I think there must have been occasions when I needed to start with the final size but I can’t remember when. Point thinning...

    I didn’t suggest otherwise, what’s your issue?

    REJECTION OF VEHICLE INSURANCE CLAIMS.

This video is rather long so fast forward to 5:30 it suggests that car insurance companies will not be around in the coming years and investors are already looking to limit their exposure in these companies. I suspect many of the older members on here won’t be around to see it but I’m sure the...

    Sharpening drills

There is a basic drill sharpening jig on the page linked below. I’ve seen very similar ones used on a standard bench grinder. https://www.barras-blades.com/sorby-pro-edge Then again, if you like building gadgets then you could go for something like those on this page. The jigs accurately...

    Multi Function socket?

I’ve never bought any of these multi-size gizmos before but although obviously bulky this one looks like it could be handy. No good for bolts in tight spots but for general use, what do you reckon...

    Price of Fuel

It’s tough, but you’ll get over it. In the scheme of things I expect the “extra” revenue from diversions like this in road pricing would be a very minimal amount. Just something to complain about. If the Government want to introduce road pricing they won’t care about a perceived tiny percentage...

    Speed Limit

What’s the point? This guy was weeving in traffic driving one handed filming himself at 123 mph. Should BMW face some responsibility for selling cars in the UK when they know the speed limit is only 70 mph? And what about the Government, shouldn’t they perhaps ban the sale of cars that can...
