    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

Or alternatively, if they have saved you from self harm they may be hoping that you appreciate the fact, be grateful and recognise the error of your ways. Now much to late to do anything about climate change, we should have subjugated the stupid bas-tards sceptics a long way back! Nigel Lawson...

    Stupid comment.

    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

Not per se, but at the margin of a sufficiently large cohort of readers there will be those who are influenced. Much more so if the book is presented to them as a component of wider fascist propaganda, which most certainly it often is. n.b. it isn't banned - it's freely available for anybody to...

......with due regard to how it impacts on others. And people sometimes need protecting from themselves.

It's authoritarian not unlike ordering kids not to tread on thin ice on a pond, or to keep away from the edge of a cliff. Saving them from their childishness innocence, or stupidity in the case of some adults!

Is it worth buying premium tools if you don't use them enough ? Metabo grinder.

The few "premium" tools I've bought have always been for the job in hand and tended to pay for themselves very quickly. First one ever was a Startrite 352 bandsaw, replacing a little Burgess 3 wheeler and also a lot of hand work. Productivity shot up over night! Got quite a few now and they do...

    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

Malign and misinformed comments and opinions, such as those coming from racists, climate change sceptics, anti vaxxers and other lunatics, have consequences, particularly when their nonsense is so easily disseminated by social media and the right wing press. They are potentially much more than...

    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

That's it in a word. He is totally lacking in self awareness and political nous. He was in the news making excuses and was actually talking of needing "new principles" now he is PM, as though you can pick-n-mix your principles to suit the occasion. This is very consistent with the whole string...

    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

We don't rule by plebiscite. We elect representatives to act for us, not simply to convey the views of their electorate. It's a common misunderstanding. In banning ICE they are acting on the advice of experts on what would be best for us all i.e. the climate science, which is exactly what they...

Would you buy a grade 2 listed cottage?

Really? Sounded like a successful project with a reasonable bit of give and take and everybody happy. The alternative which can often be seen is where someone has developed a simple agricultural building completely beyond recognition and turned it into a huge bourgeois ranch with massive gravel...

Would you buy a grade 2 listed cottage?

Yes there are ways of doing it badly. We all know that, I think.

SawStop, stops on contact with skin is coming to Europe soon!

forget to add - and somebody with common sense is going to use push sticks and won't need sawstop.

Yes thanks for all your work Doug it was brilliant! The new owners love it too.

Would you buy a grade 2 listed cottage?

Utter nonsense. Everybody knows that there has to be air exchange and circulation. Nobody says you should block all draughts, but there is often a case for reducing/controlling them. You do say some very daft things Deema! :ROFLMAO: Talking of draughts - we had to open up existing air vents in...

Would you buy a grade 2 listed cottage?

Seems to ceiling here and plenty of scope for insulation. I imagine it would hardly be necessary what with the low ceilings and thick thatch outside. I don't know the building but as it's tiny and thickly thatched I'd guess any further insulation would have marginal effect and hardly worth it...

Would you buy a grade 2 listed cottage?

Draughty sashes need maintenance by an experienced person. Set up properly the draught can be minimal. The gaps between meeting rails and between bottom rail and staff bead can be close but never closed off as these allow drainage of condensation- turns them into passive dehumidifers on a cold...

Would you buy a grade 2 listed cottage?

You can. In general by insulating under the roof and/or across the ceilings of the upper rooms. Usually completely out of sight and also usually the most cost effective. Next would be draught exclusion of doors and windows - but always leaving gaps as air changes are absolutely essential. After...
