    Making sideboard

I've got a lovely way that can be a feature I use 20mm beech dowels put into the side almost like a bed bolt but using decent quality screws. I then screw through the top into the sides and cross grain through the dowel. It's really strong with those 3.5mm screws with large heads. These can then...

    Selling advice

It's not immediately obvious but it's mire valuable to be a full time digital marketer and a part time wood butcher. So if I was to split a week into days. To have any chance of breaking through 1 day making 4 1/2 days marketing. That's why the reality of what's offered is often very...

    Three way

It's not that making even a single one with integral tenons is an exercise in patience but take away the tenons from an already hugely strong joint and its all much simpler. The spiky bit with the hollow is the hardest to make but set up a chisel mortiser and you within a mm of paring. The other...

    Three way

Interesting the dowel points worked perfectly. It was the simple hold together and drill a through hole that slipped slightly as it transitioned from long grain to end grain.

    Three way

The finished joint seems hugely strong without glue! Ps the aluminum tube is conveniently 10mm! I'd have to hammer it apart.

    Three way

From what I can glean it's what I call a youtube joint. Just for clicks(with those tenons) but it is a superb three way interaction and I used machines to make in a few hours(the spiky bit is finished by hand being an inside) Just needs the joint perfecting(although mine is much better than any...

    Where to buy WRC planks....

A good (long grain)joint should last as nearly as long as no joint(doesn't make it much cheaper just easier to find)

    Helping at a repair cafe

Try how would long would free software guys last if they charged a living wage but Microsoft were operating for free without regulation.

    Helping at a repair cafe

I can't say it in any other way so I'm finished on this. People are being very dismissive about these small businesses like they don't matter like its just a joke. But there real and they won't survive. Would the repair cafe staff go and work for one of these companies for free? Unlikely

    Helping at a repair cafe

I'm failing to see the repair cafe as doing a mate a favour. It's highly promoted. With thousands of staff.

    Helping at a repair cafe

Thousands of free workers organised into a well promoted business is a huge threat. Leek bike solutions, pj's garden machinery, Mr sharpy, on the mend and so on and so forth all competitors of the repair cafe. And that's only my town

    Helping at a repair cafe

Bike shops disappearing garment repair disappearing sharpening businesses still around, small electrical repair is disappearing. Maybe if you thought of small businesses as charities with 100 per cent of the profit going to a good cause that would help. The repair cafe is now big business...
