Haggling on price - is it the done thing?

Hi, just wondering what others thoughts are on haggling on the price, particularly on FB marketplace. I sometimes make an offer but I'm never truly comfortable doing it. Never really sure if people expect offers, or you should just accept the price they are asking if you want it. I guess that...

    No Fault Evictions

yeah, I've not understood this one yet. Take someone like Donald Trump, he could just enjoy cheating at Golf and trying to find Malania for the rest of his life, yet he had to have more power. Which it seems has brought him nothing but trouble. If he had just carried on as before becoming...

Is this getting a bit out of hand? - RSV jabs

It depends how you are asking and what you are dimissing. If you look at the scientific studies on medicine, they will constantly be doing studies on various groups which may lead to dismissing earlier studies. Taking a sample of 1000 people and getting one answer is not going to yield the same...

    castors

This looks interesting https://www.scosarg.com/moveable-wheel-kit-for-bs300-bandsaw it doesn't show exactly how it works but by the look of it there is a foot lever that acts on the wheels to push them down. Obviously you want it hand activated so would need to be modified to push a lever down...

    castors

If you flip the idea another way could be that the wheels are the bit that are lowered down when needed. Normally you could have 2 rear wheels and 2 fixed legs at the front. When you need to move it you screw down the wheels to lift the front legs off the floor.

    castors

Another alternative along the same theme as above could be to use some studding. If you had a couple of nuts welded in place down the front legs on the stand, you could have studding screwed through them down to the floor with a rubber foot on the end of each stud. The top of the studding could...

Is this getting a bit out of hand? - RSV jabs

There is always room in between, and that is where sensible debate should be had. Science is asking questions. If you believe in science, you have to believe in the need to question. That is not to say that every ridiculous conspiracy needs to be given any airtime, but sensible review of data...

Is this getting a bit out of hand? - RSV jabs

What science? The only thing they knew at the beginning of the pandemic was that it was killing people, and they had no treatment or cure. They didn't even properly know where it came from, other than some story about it being from a market in China that happened to be next to a virus lab...

Again, this is just your opinion. You have no facts at all on this. Of course he raised it publicly, he was the figurehead of the government, that was his job. You are looking at this with hindsight. Go back to the start of the pandemic. whether you like him or not, Johnson had few options...

Is this getting a bit out of hand? - RSV jabs

The chances that it was just made up by Johnson is extremely low as for one he would have had teams of scientific advisors. Unless you happened to be in one of the cobra meetings you can not possibly know what was done or said. Besides this, heard immunity would have been exactly what has...

New road tax charging rules wont just affect EV OR just new vehicles, its retrospectively changes your tax band

Wider tyres have the downside of more tyre scrub and therefore increased tyre pollution, and potentially more risk of aquaplaning.

New road tax charging rules wont just affect EV OR just new vehicles, its retrospectively changes your tax band

I believe this is incorrect. I have a kitcar that has an age-related plate (H 1991), so is taxed via the old system of over or under 1549cc. The tax rates for this have changed numerous times. I haven't had it on the road for many years and last I remember I was paying around £250 a year for...

For the sake of discussion, how many of the people on here who are saying that vaccines are a moral obligation for societal health (for the record I do for most vaccines, but I don't think it hurts to question things) bother to look after themselves e.g. exercise regularly, avoid alcohol and...

Is this getting a bit out of hand? - RSV jabs

Whilst I don't distrust doctors, many people no longer have a single GP over many years. GPs literally have a few mins to scan each patient file and 10 mins to listen to your ailment (assuming you can describe it accurately) and make a diagnosis/write a prescription. The father of a family...

Is this getting a bit out of hand? - RSV jabs

Unless you are never going to allow the introduction of new vaccines and drugs, it is impossible to have historical data on a new drug, that is how time works. You can only know by testing and implementing and monitoring, which is exactly what happened to all of the old drugs/vaccines. The ones...

Hopefully better than a year ago for causing jams. Although apparently still causing issues honking each other whilst parking at night The waymo system use Lidar and I think optical, which certainly seems to be far better than the optical system that Tesla uses.

    Electric vehicles

It was interesting in 2021 when Texas had a bad winter and power failure. There were many quick to blame windfarms for the failure due to icing on the blades. What they didn't want to tell anyone was that the whole system including the Gas power stations had failed as they hadn't winterised the...

    Electric vehicles

It is interesting and time will indeed tell, but as you mentioned your analysis has come from data in California. I have not been to California so I am prepared to be corrected but I would guess that most of their roads are far bigger and straighter than that of the UK and mainland Europe...

    Electric vehicles

I'm sorry if my example of an old car weight vs new car weight was confusing. I was not in anyway comparing the actual car and it's technology from the past with the current offerings. The statement I was making was that people currently buy huge SUV type cars because they want huge SUV type...
