Bad news mate. Get well soon. It’s no problem for me. I was able to get something else locally. Hopefully you’re on the mend. It’s no fun.

Hi there @sammy.se Would you mind boxing up and sending to Scotland? Assuming the shipping cost is not crazy, then I’d be interested. Thanks.

    Is this timber Teak?

I’ve come to the conclusion that none of it is teak. There’s no tell tale signs as you guys described above. Mostly meranti, but I can use that. Thanks again.

    Is this timber Teak?

It actually looks like the darker bits are meranti but I’ve got no idea what the lighter bits are. I’ll give them a saw and post pics of end grain.

    Is this timber Teak?

I broke down a couple of old mass produced bedside drawer units to recycle the wood. It was labelled as Vienna Teak. I assumed it would be pine stained on the outside and MDF on the inside but now that it’s in bits, I wonder if it is actually teak in parts. Most of it was hardwood faced MDF...

Metabo 260C 10" Planer thicknesser - First impressions.

Thanks Gents. I went with the principle of shorting the microswitch by screwing both cables into one terminal. That solved the problem and I’ve now got a working thicknesser. I’ve got asthma so I will never cut without extraction anyway. Thanks for your help. Now to make something :D

Metabo 260C 10" Planer thicknesser - First impressions.

Thanks all. I’m of the mind to jump it and carry on without the risk of it getting upset in the future. I’d almost always go for extraction so I’m not hacking it to avoid that. I’ll let you know the outcome. Thanks again.

Metabo 260C 10" Planer thicknesser - First impressions.

Have any of you had problems with starting the thicknesser? I can start it in planer mode, but when I convert it into thickness mode it doesn’t do anything. Not even a click. I looked at the micro switches and can see movement in the hood switch beside the belt. There’s a cam and a grub screw...

Metabo 260C 10" Planer thicknesser - First impressions.

Gents, what do you use for polishing the tables? Edit. There’s plenty of info on this topic so I bought myself some Liberon Lubricating Wax.

Can I ask if the machine can rebate timber?

Metabo 260C 10" Planer thicknesser - First impressions.

Thanks. I’m sure the seller will help me, but I’d need a bit of carpet or thick sheets something like that to cover the boot. I’m willing to book a van for a day if it’s not going to work. God knows I’ve got a million things I can do with a van for a day :D

Metabo 260C 10" Planer thicknesser - First impressions.

I’m going to check out a second hand Metabo tonight. As far as transportation goes, do you think it will break down and go in the boot of my large hatchback? Skoda Octavia. The boot is really big, especially when the seats are down. Maybe when both tables are off and the leg as are removed it...

Metabo 260C 10" Planer thicknesser - First impressions.

The Minimax looks to be a bit above my needs at the moment. I think the Metabo is top of the price range for me. It looks like there is a bit of a price jump when you go above the metabo.
