Let's see if that helps :)

Advice on drilling large holes thro ply.

I wouldn't suggest it if I thought it was particularly difficult. I've made templates this way several times. You can calculate and draw a circle diameter to make any finished hole size you want from any combination of cutter and guide bush you have that work together. Use a 1/4" not 1/2"...

Advice on drilling large holes thro ply.

I would make a simple template in mdf with a selection (3?) of hole sizes in it, then use this to guide cutting the actual holes with a 1/4 plunge router, 6 or 8mm straight bit and a guide bush. Clamp the template each time and I would just go round and round inside the template with the router...

Consumer unit cartridge fuse size help

This seems to give a good picture of common bs1361 fuses. It does indeed include a 5a that's even smaller than a plugtop fuse. https://www.stevensonplumbing.co.uk/bs1361-fuses.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqjOulEqHz9CxxtF6LSgddRzKvXQ7huxLhk_HHSZs13c3r1ZzL7 I'll admit, this caught me out as I skipped...

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

I find Octopus slow, but they get the job done. Except for organising me a smart gas meter. OVO were the first to fail at that, and Octopus have also put it in the "too difficult" pile without even attempting it.

    Small workshop generator

A number of not really very old motorbikes have plastic tanks that get affected by the ethanol in modern e5 and worse e10 petrol. Vintage bikes had metal tanks but there was a widespread shift to plastic tanks long before ethanol fuels arrived and materials were reengineered to cope with them...

Consumer unit cartridge fuse size help

Borrowed from wikipedia BS 1361 for cartridge fuses for a.c. circuits in domestic and similar premises BS 1362 for cartridge fuses for BS 1363 power plugs BS 1363 for mains power plugs and sockets So, the answer is BS1361 standard cartridge fuses for a consumer unit. Much fatter than plug top...

Is this motor compatible with using a vfd

Basically yes. You will need a MCB circuit breaker dedicated to this in the consumer unit, so unless you have a spare one of the right size, that is an electricians job as it is notifiable work. Correctly sized breaker and supply cable to the Phase Converter, then connect a number of 3 ph 415v...

What wood would and what wood wouldn't make your preferred species to work with.

Wenge - i'm pretty sure that what it is - is horrid. I makes an especially nasty splinter and seems to do that every time you touch it. They love to go in and turn septic. It's kind of hard but brittle. I like ash for it's tough springy strength, as well as the grain. And maple for it's smooth...

No don't. That argument is running in another thread. Leave it there.

Is this motor compatible with using a vfd

A digital phase converter is a great convenience in allowing you to just plug in and run any old 415v / 3ph machine. And indeed more than one at a time. You will be paying a good few hundred £ for it but it is a one off. Think of it like buyi g a transwave converter, just better in every...

Is this motor compatible with using a vfd

If you go the jfk route above, they are a clever device and a good choice, but you must buy one big enough. It isn't a 3kW drive for a 3kW motor. You need to size up, substantially. Best way is to contact the seller, explain your application and ask them to recommend the right drive. Also...

    Kity paint information anyone

Nice job there. I've owned a couple of kitys and reprayed a couple of startrites. To me the photos in the thread are giving a decent enough representation of these colours in the flesh. @Indiana s paint match looks much closer than using startrite green. Startrite green also has a very...

Dewalt DW320 Radial Arm Saw Table Size

If you have the metal angle brackets used to support and level the table from below, just put those in position and make a table to suit your preference. As long as you don'textend more than maybe 100mm on any edge beyond the supports, you should be fine. Go big or small depending on your space...

    What capacitor for this motor?

Easy to answer that. You have a 3/4 hp motor 4 pole / 1400 rpm ish PSC type Looking that up in a helpful document published by capacitor manufacturer Kemet and shared on the Farnell website, we are told that a good choice of capacitor for your motor should be 20uF. Make sure the voltage rating...

    Tissue for lathe work

The situation was a little different but it bears saying over and over as people tend to think "it can't happen to me" I personally know a guy who had his hand torn off the end of his arm while he was sanding using emery cloth. Yes it can happen. As a veteran shop foreman he almost certainly...

    What capacitor for this motor?

One type of single phase motor has a capacitor permanantly wired in (psc = permanent split capacitor) . 20uF for an 1100W motor would be right, so 60uF sounds waay too much for a 750W PSC motor. Another type (cap start, or cap start, cap run) has a bigger capacitor connected for only a couple of...

For Sale Power Devil Router (1020w)

Morning. Please read the sticky at the top of the "for sale forum" and follow the rules in it. We don't do "fair offers". We don't do auctions. This isn't a free ebay. You need to state a price. I'll leave your thread in place for 24 hours to give you time to correct in, then it will be...

Ive done my time son, dont you worry about that.

You are very welcome here. It sounds like you've had a bad experience somewhere along the way. Hopefully that won't repeat here but UKW isn't the nanny state, you should expect a bit of banter and as this is a forum for people of all levels and interests, the questions asked and answers given...
