    Durable wood in ground ?

Thanks, Phil, for me every day's a school day, I didn't know that. My wife daily reads out odd things from the papers at breakfast time, helps sometimes with quizzes and crosswords. This mornings offering.? Lesotho is the only only country in the world which is wholly over 1000 metres above...

    Table saw fence

Ask an optician this question and he would probably go for the side that gives the most direct and straightest view with the operators dominant eye, usually the right eye. Think rifle shooters? Hence my choice of fence to the right.

    Thin drawers

A pull-out rolling two shelf unit with a plain front, held in check by a drop down catch? Tall cereal packets etc., would fit. I'm thinking along the lines of Dave above and would try to find a wire basket for the top. Poop-poop!

Why you need a full length well in your work bench.

About 2 1/4 ", a Stanley No 4 can safely lie on its side when something wide is placed over it.

    I need a Doctor......

Thank you, it's worth a call. Incidentally, I bought a Stanley disposable tenon saw which in truth was not too bad although the handle didn't fit my hand, or that of anyone unless they were still way back down the Simian line.

    mold

Is it mould or the polish breaking down? I was gifted a large turned bowl which assumed a grey / white dusty film over a 12 month period, a wipe with surgical spirit followed by a light treatment with Rustins Danish Oil cured it.

    Addicted to Fisherman's Friend

Reminds me of a story about a man on trial for gross indecency who whilst being cross-examined had such a sore dry throat that the Judge stopped the proceedings, fumbled in his robes and said "I can't hear you clearly enough..." and held out a paper packet "..would you like to suck a...

    Joke Thread 5

Little Amelia gets taken to school in the car every day by Grandad because Mummy has to catch an early train to work. One day Grandad is poorly, so it's arranged for Grandma to take her the following day. Mummy is a little concerned because Granny's driving skills are not too good.... The...

Why you need a full length well in your work bench.

For the 'no wellers' amongst you, sheet of 25mm rigid insulation the size of your bench top will allow a saw set slightly below the ply to work right across. When not wanted it can live behind the bench, against the wall, or as I do, on the garage floor under the car.

Why you need a well cambered blade on a No7

My mentor, Carmelu Malia, in the shipwrights shop at HMS St Angelo, told me 'Don't move your grip or change the angle of the holding, just THINK about changing the angle, it will come square...' This was a man who could cut square and true across a 10" board without pre-marking with a...

    Mobile Machine Base

My larger machines stand in line to one side of my workspace and get moved sideways to an open space for ease of use. The only ones next to at wall are a scroll saw, drill presses and grinders.
