    Exploding Pagers - Lebanon

I once had the opportunity to talk about age-old enmities with an elderly Muslim cleric. He explained that a common vow to avenge an insult or wrongdoing would be to visit revenge on the offender's 'children's children's children' before it was considered eligible for discontinuing. We are...

    Joke Thread 5

One evening a Parisian grandmother collects her visiting English granddaughter in a taxi at Orly Airport. Leaving the airport they pass several whores in small groups, some with little poodles in their arms. "What are those ladies doing, Grandmere?" "Cherie, those ladies have been to a...

You'll notice I didn't endorse the quality of the acting, it's the premise and the possibilities that interest me....and see my response to Duner's 'impossible scenario'. Given time and sufficient interest I could cite more, perhaps not at exactly 90 degrees but adjacent enough to give...

Newark Crossing on the East Coast Main Line (the Nottingham to Lincoln line is the other route), just north of Newark North Gate station, for example?

If 'they' are clever enough to get the explosive in there, they will sure as hell have engineered an anti-tamper device!

A woman goes to the doctor to explain that she seems to f@rt an awful lot, and although '..they don't smell, and they are totally silent...' she'd like him to make sure it's nothing serious. After the examination he gives her a prescription and tells her to return in a fortnight. On her...

Are you watching 'The Night Express' on BBC 1? A sleeper train has been hijacked remotely, very good writing with a novel plot.

    Two QUICK Shop TIPS:

In the same vein, before squeezing PVA out of the nozzle, take off the lid, squeeze the bottle in the upright position to expel some air so that when you have got enough glue out there will be some extra 'suck' left to empty the contents of the nozzle back into the bottle and leave the hole in...

    Joke Thread 5

A man is playing golf as a guest for the first time on a course when a really beautiful young woman runs past stark naked into the trees. His friend appears to take little notice, so he politely continues the game. A few moments later two men in white coats run past in the same direction...

    Oak Writing Desk

If ever a job was crying out for biscuit jointing it's this one, given the O.P.s lack of practical resources, space and being presumptive, clamps. I wouldn't touch the jointed edges other than a clean.

Your favourite thing you have made from reclaimed timber 🤔 📸

A dust board is a thin sheet of wood housed under each drawer and serves two purposes, to prevent dust worn from the drawer slides falling onto materials in the drawers below {think precious fabrics in museum conservation, prints & artwork etc al} or preventing access by destructive insects...

Your favourite thing you have made from reclaimed timber 🤔 📸

I posted this in my introductory post, made from the reclaimed front office desk at Tadley Police Station! In the shop for a re-wax. I dug out my CH Hayward books and decided to go the whole hog, fitted cedar dust board, brass drawer lock and handle from the tip etc.. Assembly was interesting...

Our terrier used to eat grass on occasions, not the lush green stuff other dogs seemed to eat, but the stiff stalky stuff. It could be a case of strings of cocktail sausages until he shook them off...

    Another recycling centre bargain..

A whole £1.00 at the tip. Marples and Son, anywhen between 1938 - 1956, could be a pattern 2400A, a handy size. A couple of worm holes but I hope the total of 4 x 30 seconds in the microwave has killed any lingering worms, then rubbed over with Danish Oil whilst still warm. Cleaned, sharpened...

Recommendations for low price ultrasonic cleaner for Stihl carburetor

For what it's worth I tip out what's left in my Stihl saw then restart it and run it until it stops whilst moving it in a figure eight pattern. Bought it the year of the Charles/ Diana wedding, had two new sprockets, 'stihl' going strong! (There, I've said it now, oh bother! )

Hybrid Gas/Electric eggs, or Full Gas eggs?

Which is more economical, to bring half a pan of water to the boil on a gas ring before adding and cooking two 4 minute eggs, or pre-boiling half a pan of water in an electric kettle before putting it in the pan to cook the same eggs?
